The project has it's own land for planting trees similar to the refineries in south, where the refineries have now become a tourist spot as well. And to those ecologist who sit in their air conditioned offices and air conditioned cars, isn't this a zero carbon emission project?. And what about those people in ratnagiri who everyday leave their homes to go and find jobs in other cities? Isn't this a good opportunity for them to get jobs in their own home town?

You should clarify the point that this refinery is petrochemical one and not petroleum. Petrochemicals are used in as simple products as Vaseline too. Such industries are required to fulfill our nation's growing needs.

I would say this plant should be shifted to somewhere in Marathawada region its a parched area not that fertaile and also not far from Ratnagiri when comparing to Vidarba region. Pipelines can be build to Ratnagiri. Also about population once a mega project like this comes as you said Gujarathis in this case people will come from different parts of the country. That is not a big issue. Also we have two inland oil refineries in India in Mathura and Panipat so your assertation that building pipelines in this case is also proved wrong. We should not look at politics of this. We need oil but we also need agriculture. Agriculture unlike industries cannot be shifted from one place to another. So in my opinion industries should come in places where agriculture is normally not possible.
