Thank you, Courtney. For the longest time I felt I couldn't use the term bisexual because my attraction to girls wasn't as big as my attraction to boys; it took me a while but I realized that bisexual doesn't mean 50/50 and now I feel proud to call myself bisexual

I feel this soooo hard. Sometimes I still think I'm just "straight with exceptions" (or, when I'm feeling meaner to myself, "straight person who wants to feel special over 'girl crushes'") but I'm working on being more comfortable with my sexuality and with understanding that these things aren't always just a clear cut down the middle.

I don't feel bisexual but I wouldn't rule off the possibility of liking a woman someday, if the right one comes along. But still I think I'm mostly attracted to men, so I identify as gay. I do feel more fluid about my gender. I feel my body is just the vessel holding my soul, so I don't necessarily think of me as a man or a woman. I present as a boy, most of the times, and that's okay to me cause I don't really feel the need to look different, but I don't feel like 'definitely male' or 'definitely female'. It's complicated and I'm still figuring it out

Like sometimes I was questioning my sexuality as a bi person again because I wouldn't say my sexuality is equally split (I'm a girl who tends to be attracted to women more over men but I have fancied boys before but none in recent years and dated one in the past), and I came across this a few months back by chance and it made me feel validated and that I'm still bi even with a preference.

Hey, Courtney, just a quick note to say thank you for making my, not close minded mother, but a Mam who has been really quite naive on the topic of gender and sexuality, more educated and open minded. This will sound stupid but I got a new car and I said it’s name is Maxxie and she asked if it was a boy or a girl and I said “I’m not sure it switches” and she quite proudly said “its gender fluid?”. Now I know it’s a car, and it’s genderless anyway, but just the fact that she knows what gender fluid means and accepts it as truth and reality is a huge thing for me. I’ve kind of spent years trying to ease her into the mindset that bisexuality is a real thing and not ‘greed’ or ‘confusion’. You’re really helping. She loved you on big brother and she likes your videos on here and I can’t wait for her to really understand pansexuality so she can properly understand me. Much love to you 💕 xxx

Courtney, thanks for educating. I didn't know Sept. 23 was Bisexuality Day, Bi Visible Day. I do know that Maggi Rubenstein got the "B" put in for GLB, LGB. And her 88th. birthday is this Sept. 28. Maggi's birthday is public knowledge since San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Duffy submitted RESOLUTION NO.419-10 which the Board of Supervisors passed, "Declaring September 28, 2010 as Dr. Marguerite Rubenstein Day in San Francisco to recognized her commitment to health education and her lifelong service to San Francisco." She founded the SF Sex Information Hotline 1972 which still flourishes; co-founded the SF Bi-sexual Center, and late Bi-Pol and the Bay Area Bi-Sexual Network. She got her Ph.D in Human Sexuality, served many years as Dean of Students as well as 11 years served at the New Leaf Outreach to Elders advisory board. In 1992, Maggi was Grand Marshal of the San Francisco Pride Parade. She says to call her "Maggi".

I must think of being bi differently than most. I'm bi but I only am attracted to cis (personal preference) masculine men and (personal preference) feminine women. To me it makes more sense that bi would full under the pan umbrella of EVERYTHING. To each his own and I still appreciated this video!
@xotbirdox6 жыл бұрын
sharon whiles Don't worry, me too! I feel like pansexuality was created to fill the need for a label for people who liked all genders so I don't get why people are trying to change bisexuality. I learnt about it as being attracted to cis men and women when I was 12 and instantly knew it was me and it took me 2 years to come to terms with my sexuality so to see people trying to change the label kinda makes me sad a bit. I know it's just a label but it feels ingrained in my personality at this point and I feel like I fought really hard to come to terms with being bi after years of having crushes on both and not really knowing where I fit in. I am literally so not transphobic so I hate when people say that the original definition of bi is transphobic. Imo, I don't think it's transphobic to not be attracted to non-cis people. I will absolutely be friends with those people, I will accept them fully 110%, and I completely see them as the gender they have told me that they are, but I am just not attracted to them personally. I don't see the problem in that. I love very masculine features (in both looks and personality) on men and very feminine features on women, and I always have. Why is that so bad?
@ANA_youre_enough6 жыл бұрын
@@xotbirdox yes! Exactly! Its personal preference for each others attraction. Isn't that the whole point in LGBTQ? I'm not going to go up a a straight person and call them homophobic because they're straight. They may be, but that isn't a fair assumption to make. Pan just makes more sense because it's definition is literally ALL. While bi's literally breaks down to 2. No hate!
@Nickferal5 жыл бұрын
I thought I liked manly men and feminine women, now I think I'm more into blondes for some reason. Whatever your taste is, monosexuality can't explain your taste. Each bisexual is a snowflake, because we are all unique, is the label for people that think of themselves as different than most, maybe we are the most
@olga_g564 жыл бұрын
I don't know why I never realized that falling in love with girls, but being more physically attracted to guys also qualifies as bi. I always felt like I'm a "fake bi", so "better not to tell anybody". Or "I'm not 100% straight, but I have no idea what I am". Now I have a lot to think about, but I kinda feel relieved. We change, we learn, even if it takes a lifetime. Courtney is so amazing. ❤️💜💙

My only thing is the idea of pan, bisexuality has always been inclusive of nb people, the flag has pink and blue at opposite ends with purple line that represents the the space in between and ultimately non binary people and a host of other identities
@JosieSaysSTFU6 жыл бұрын
i hear where you're coming from - bisexuality *has* always been inclusive of nb folks, but not everyone's always been aware of it, so some people prefer it as a more explicitly inclusive label. also a lot of bi people are only attracted to two genders (whether that's women and men, women and nb people, etc.) rather than *all*, so i still think bi and pan as separate labels have value. and some people (like me!) identify with both.
@pandapaws61746 жыл бұрын
HexManiacCiaran I know a lot of bi people who are VERY anti trans, and tbh most people I know are very anti- non binary, the same as some gay people can be. (And yes I do challenge this as much as I can) So whilst a lot of people say that it is inclusive, there some that will hate on you if you say your Bi but don't care about 'gender norms' or date a trans person, that's why I moved more to the Pan label.
@DirkAustin6 жыл бұрын
Bullshit, im bi and i dont care if someone is trans or not or whatever else. I date by personality. Doesnt make me any less bi.
@silvertamagachi6 жыл бұрын
I always thought bi was attraction to any gender, while pan was attraction to people regardless of gender. Is that totally off?
@silvertamagachi6 жыл бұрын
Lucoa, in theory doesn't that mean that a bi person and a pan person can be attracted to the exact same number/types of people, despite identifying differently? Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course, but if they're attracted to the same things I'm not sure what the difference is, beyond what people prefer going by. (Also potentially more ignorant question: When we say "all genders" . . . there's male-, female-, and nb/genderfluid-identifying people, right? Ignoring trans -- because trans men are male and vice versa -- are there more than just the 3? Looking it up on Google obv resulted in a lot of transphobic bs....)

Courtney thank you sooo much for making this video, you have no idea how much it means to me. I'm the complicated case of falling in love only with men but being sexually attracted to most genders (I'm female). I've never felt quite comfortable calling myself bisexual because I'll never introduce a girlfriend to my parents, only boyfriends, so they'll think I just say I'm bi cause I wanna be cool. Also, I felt like to lesbian girls I might seem like a bi-curious straight girl that uses them for sex without wanting a relationship, thus I never felt like I belonged in the LGBT community. But I think after your video I'll maybe have the courage to explain myself and call myself bi. Thank you.
