I am a white evangelical and what you said bishop made me weep. Truly it did! I have no words to say except that "I hear your pain" and that of my African-American brothers and sisters in Christ. The big "C" church does need you and your voice. I am sorry that your pain, and that of so many, has largely been dismissed by many in my white evangelical community. I pray that the Spirit will help us find a way to be the body of Christ together - "in all its rich colors and hues" here now. And I think that really requires people like me being willing to enter into the grief, anger and pain that so many of you have experienced. I don't fully know what that looks like but your message was a message my heart heard deeply and I believe the Spirit will use it in a powerful way. Thank you

@@staceyhennings8820 Thank you Stacy for your call to speak and act. I have been speaking a lot to my family and my white friends about the need for us to listen, to learn, and to act for justice and reconciliation. To be honest, I believe God is giving me the courage and growing my knowledge to speak against those who want to dismiss or downplay racism, discrimination, and institutionalized inequality. I am challenging them to stop listening to blogs, talk radio, or social media and meet with an African American person and let them tell their story. They, as I, need to be intentional to have real conversations, even if they make us feel uncomfortable. I am challenging them, as I am challenging myself, that we can't "weep with those who weep" unless we are willing to listen to their stories, your story, and be impacted by them. I, we (white Christians) have a long way to go. I am learning. Pray that this will sink in to all who name Jesus as Lord. Thank you for listening

You're talking about recent racial injustice. ONE BAD Cop and you base your whole view of this country on that! And btw, teach young black men to NOT resist arrest. It's so hypocritical and it will never change till you people change your outlook. I wrote a comment here before. Guess I was censured. Didn't quite fit the narrative here. You are the one's that create division while white people bend over backwards to please you. There's a racial spirit here in the US and it's working on everybody if you don't resist it. We don't have it in Europe like you do here. Pray against it and preach against it. We for example have mixed churches, not segregated like you do here. I think that no preacher should preach racism but preach the message of the Bible which says that we're all ONE in Christ. I think this racist spirit is just like the gay spirit. It's hungry and it can never have enough, it's never satisfied. Am I upset? Yes, I am. I'm very disappointed with a lot of the black people in America. Always accusing me as a white person for not doing enough. I'm just living my life like everybody else. Stop treating us like we're some kind of masters. It's exhausting! We'll see if this gets censured too. I love black conservatives. They understand how this world works and they see opportunity where liberals and leftists see entitlement. It's sad...and I'm sure you will call me a Karen now cause it's okay for you to be racist. Maybe because you don't believe you're equal..

Bishop, it warms my ❤ that you are speaking out. This is an answered prayer because I have been praying that the eyes of our leaders would open to the truth. I have been in the faith for over 30 years...ministering, teaching and doing what I could to be faithful. But the rash of police shootings in 2016 forced me to fall on my knees and ask why did these things keep happening to us and how could the church be silent. Thankfully, Bishop the Holy Spirit removed the blinders. I now see why the Church has been silent. I now know why we still have segregated Sundays. Bishop, I know this hurts because it hurt me too. But the truth is that those who are truly filled with the Spirit can't look away or be silent when they witness injustice. Our true brothers and sisters didn't need this event to speak out and work for justice. They were already doing it because they chose not to look away. The Quakers were a great example of that. They didn't just say that they opposed racial injustice, they did something. They risked everything because they understood what true righteousness meant. I'm sorry for the pain in your heart right now, but know that you had to get to this place. Our Father is separating the wheat from the tares. Those who truly belong to Him do what is right and say what is right because it IS right.

Also, Trevor Noah gave a commentary using the analogy of a "contract" between we as citizens and the United States and we, Black Americans hold up our end of the contract yet "others" do not. What consequences/repercussions does one think they will receive when they CONTINUOUSLY violate this contract? I'm sure I'm not getting it all correct but Google it and view that as well when you can. But this.right.here.was.IS.Truth!

Well my sister nothing escapes God so since they can not honor their contract Hell will be waiting for all those who do not honor it. In each of these movements, a loud cry of righteousness and justice was heard from pulpits that lead to action and overcame the voices from other pulpits that desired to remain unjust and keep people oppressed.

I have been consuming a lot of online teaching & preaching these days and happy to see a "few" white Christian leaders speaking out : Bethel church is one; my Lutheran pastor was very blunt with his nearly all-white community last Sunday , June 7, 2020 (moochurch.org); Bishop TD Jakes had a zoom panel with a few white leaders. It remains to be seen if it will be sustained. I am a white woman who was young during the late 60's protest and I feel this year we are revisiting that pain with a new generation who are energized for justice. That includes the young church too. I myself left white evangelical churches for 23 years & only in the last 5 years came back with a shaky heart and nervous expectation. It pains me that I live in a. white-dominated suburb but I strive to be part of a multiethnic group of friends & was part of events at school to teach kids awareness & to value all people. But I can't lie, I did not even know there was a black church just 5 miles away from me. Happy that my church has Grace-filled pastors, but we are white as can be. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we can use this momentum to cry and hug each other; then go out and walk with the protesters. Since this May 31 upload, the momentum has increased. Today is June 9, 2020. We just might be finally getting it as white folks and white christians. Let's pray we get this right so they will know who we are by our love for one another; which includes speaking out. Glad I saw this message! God IS Love. Love our neighbors as we love ourselves. 🙏👍😇

God bless you, dear sister. I also watched the Bishop Jakes zoom call and it was really encouraging. In the last couple of weeks, I have seen KZbin posts of several white pastors/leaders having open dialogue with their black brothers, trying to understand the underlying issues of systemic racism etc. and genuinely listening and wanting to care and be part of the change and healing. A big part of the problem is that many white people don't actually know the history that underlies many of the issues, through no fault of their own. Check out some of Tony Evans or Bryan Stevensons KZbin posts. God is raising up white people with genuine hearts, like you, to care and share. I am in the UK watching all of this play out and praying that the Lord will bring about true unity and love within the body of Christ. Blessings

Thank you Bishop Ulmer. We are called to be "walking epistles, known and read of all men". The entire Body should be concerned what "ACTS" are written of the Church in 2020. The Body should be concerned about HOW they are KNOWN and READ.

Bishop Ulmer, thank you sir for telling the truth. I have the utmost respect for you as a true spirit filled leader of this current era. You are one of the very few that will use your platform to deal with “real” issues within the Body of Christ!

What gut wrenching truth from an esteemed general .... I'd love to see a national, diverse panel assembled across denominational lines by those who would be transparent on this matter. Barriers are being broken & some walls are coming down but they are so scattered & still without unified leadership. The net has to be tightened to shoulder this pain that needs to be strategically addressed in the public forum by any person who would call themselves a leader in the body of Christ today. May God usher in the real revival necessary to ultimately join our fractured members as one - whole body that looks like "The picture." Thank you Bishop Ulmer for putting such clarity to an unspoken & collective pain that has been way down in the soul of God's church for far too long. God's kingdom come .... Father's Favor.

You're right Bishop Ulmer; some people say they don't know the pain we go through being black people, I get that but for over 400 years we've been mistreated as if we don't matter until it benefits them and their cause. People say they don't know what to say when a person has lost a family member; I don't know what to say myself but I need to acknowledge the pain they go thru and to see what I can do to help ease the pain! This saying has been out for a while now: "IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING". SAY SOMETHING WHEN YOU SEE SOMEONE TREAT ANOTHER PERSON AS IF THEY DON'T MATTER. CHURCH YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE THE CHRIST YOU SAY YOU SERVE!! THAT IS VERY SAD; GOD HAS OPENED YOUR EYES, BECAUSE THE CHURCH IS THE REASON PEOPLE DON'T BELIEVE IN GOD BECAUSE WE'RE NOT LIVING LIFE ACCORDING TO HIS WILL IN OUR LIVES.

😭😭😭😭Bishop Kenneth you have spoken the truth in all you have said . I have felt and seen racism up close and personal and I try my best to be strong during all of this pain but it keeps happening and as a Christian I know I am supposed to love but I’m harboring such anger because of such unjust that’s coming from some in the church and those that are supposed to be my friends. Hurting in the church and from the church has become a regular. I pray for healing 😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🏼🙏🏼

Please! The Bible is mostly about the Jews but it applies to the whole world through Jesus Christ. So you have this "secret" revelation that everybody in the Bible are black. How ludicrous. Since I came to America I have understood that some black churches believe this. It's false. What about all other people in the world? There's no salvation for them? It's all about you isn't it? It's called hybris and is very common psychologically for people that feel inferior to swing to the complete opposite. Well, you don't have to do that because Jesus is everything we all need. No matter what country you are from...

@Singer Lena Anderson I don't think she is saying that everyone in the Bible is African American/black, she just believes that African Americans & other descendants of enslaved Africans all over the world are actually descendants of the Hebew Israelites of the Bible. I believe all ethnicities were represented in the Bible and the plan of salvation is to all as well. You didn't have to be so unpleasant in your comment. You could have said it with a more loving tone. By the way, the Jews of the Bible are Hebrew Israelites, they are called Jews, being from the lineage of Judah, one of Jacob's(israel) sons. Just in case you didn't know. God bless sister.
