Bishop Flunder is Founder and Senior Pastor at City of Refuge United Church of Christ in Oakland, CA. She is also Presiding Bishop of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries, a multi-denominational coalition of over 100 primarily African American Christian leaders.
Founded in 2000, the overriding purpose of The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries is to support religious teachers and laity in moving towards a theology of radical inclusivity which, by its very nature, requires an equally radical social ministry, reaching to the furthest margins of society to serve all in need without prejudice and discrimination.
Canadian Memorial is going through our own Affirming Ministries process, and we are thrilled to have Bishop Flunder as a teacher and visionary in that process.

Because if you live in unrepented sin. And violate the Word of God everytime you take the pulpit your NOT getting into heaven... God descriminates against the unsaved and the unrepentant. They will never see the kingdom of God

While it is true none of us have a heaven or hell to put one another in, Flunder is "preaching" out of a book I assume she believes to be truth from Genesis to Revelations. I absolutely love her and Shirley's musical gifts, I can't see how they reconcile living in a lesbian relationship for FORTY YEARS. The bible is right! Sin separates us from God. The word of God CLEARLY speaks of homosexuality as a SIN. Yvette is a phenomenal and gifted singer and orator, but her message of God being ok with her lifestyle is sending her and countless others to hell. I didn't say it, the bible she's "preaching" from says it.

I don't know who is or is not gonna get into heaven, I am too busy trying to make it in myself. But I will say this, sin, ANY sin separates us from our Father God. Jesus suffered, shed His precious blood to give us a remedy for that separation: REPENTANCE. To repent means to TURN from sin. And so beloved, we must not continue in UNREPENTANT sin. Hebrews 6:6 "...seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh and put Him to an open shame." Hebrews 10:26, "... Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid..." Romans 6:1,2
