My understanding is the band had just finished a tour and said they weren`t available to do the Mutter video, but due to pressure from the record company Till decided to do it on his own. The other band members didnt know about this and they nearly split up. Ohne Dich was written by Till to first say sorry and also to show they would now always take decisions together.

First time hearing, for me. I really enjoyed this song! The feeling or vibe from it was so strong and it hit me in my core. I'm a disabled man. I've been disabled for nearly my entire life. I've had friends throughout my life that have been amazing and wonderful. Friends that would (and have) gone well beyond what a typical friend would do for someone else. I related so much with the video because of that. I broke down in tears midway through watching it. I'm not ashamed to say that either. It hit me hard! Amazing song and I'm very glad that you chose to do a reaction for it! :) Thank you!!

The song ist about the relationship between the band members of Rammstein and also can be seen as expressing mourning over the loss of a loved person. Rammstein wanted to break up one or the other time and that is why they had even therapy sessions. But they always decided to stay together. For Heitmann (film direktor of this video) , the emotional message in the video is very important; "Ohne Dich" shows unity in the band. Richard said that the most important thing is to stick together, everything else is irrelevant.Therefore Rammstein is one of the few Bands that have managed to play in the same line up and with the same members for almost 30 years since they were founded. The funny thing is that Flake (Keyboarder) still denies that he is a member of Rammstein, because he actually never wanted to be part of Rammstein from the start because the music was too "simple" for him. Till and Richard always wanted to start solo careers. In addition, the Rammstein members constantly argued about every song, every video and every live show, how it could be done better. It actually almost came to a break up with the "Mother" video. Till shot the video alone without really involving the other band members. Rammstein not only had one group therapy with a psychologist over the years, but nevertheless they could never be without each other There were 5 or 6 ideas for this video. Some of the band members wanted to make a video at sea, others wanted to make it in the mountains. Richard wanted to make a video based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Match Girl" because it was the only fairy tale that made him cry, but the idea was rejected.. According to Joern Heitmann (film director), this is the most emotionally engaging video he has ever made with the band. For the video, the band members grew beards, because in the mountains there is no time to shave. Flake was the only one to have an artificial one. During the making of, Till can be seen wearing a shirt which makes fun of Flake and his beard. The climbing scene was shot on one of the climbing walls next to a parking lot, and the band could go as high as they wanted to. The band was accompanied by an experienced climbing team who taught them how to correctly climb the wall. The video was shot at +20 degrees. The snow was artificial, and the snow storm was created with the help of machines. Emanuel Fialik's assistant expressed his concerns about whether any of the band members would get hurt while shooting a video in the middle of the tour. Heitmann claimed that no one would have been able to stop Till from playing the falling scene. The original idea was that Flake would have to carry Till together with Schneider at 3,400 m above sea level, which was physically impossible for him. Richard admits that everyone always fights for their own scene when shooting videos and everyone wants to be able to play a part, so it's hard to work with them on the set.

I think it's more about a struggle with depression. Someone who is severely depressed can still feel incredibly alone despite being surrounded by loved ones. Living in that situation is very much like trying to summit a mountain whilst carrying an extra body of dead weight. But there is also a message that, should our brother fall before we reach our objective, we will carry him to the end.

My interpretation of this song: Till's character has been through a loss in his life, perhaps a death or breakup. He's lost his passion for life. His friends decide to take him to do something he'd always dreamed of doing, in an attempt to relight his life flame. When he slips, he considers for a moment, then intentionally lets go, because he just doesn't want to go on without whomever it is he's lost. His friends however, decide to complete the journey even though they know it'll be a one way trip for him.

That's my take, too. At the beginning, it's about personal loss and fulfilling one's dream. Then he falls. That aluminum plate is what they use as a gravestone for mountaineers who won't make it back. But he's still alive. So his friends decide to carry him to the top, flipping the meaning of the song. Now he's the one that will be missed.

Very late to the reaction, probably you are not going to read my comment, but when I first took a reading of the lyrics, I thought it was about a lost love, but not gone. The main character finds his identity in that love, but he is not loved back any more. She is around but they're not a couple anymore, so "Without you I can't be myself, but with you I am alone too". She is around, but not being in a relationship anymore, he feels alone when he is around her. Kind of reminds me a high school breakup, may be meeting in classes or sports, but each one on their own side with their own group of friends, and one of them is not over the relationship.

It would be really worthwhile for you if you look at the songs with English subtitles and also understand what it's all about. These videos are also available. All you have to do is enter English subtitles in the search bar and you will find these videos. The song deals with the dynamics in the band in the weakest and strongest moments. The bottom line is that they go through everything together, even if there is disagreement among themselves. They can't with and can't without each other, so to speak. Overall, however, you hit it pretty well. But this is not about drugs. Don't you sometimes know the feeling of being in a room with a lot of people and yet you feel alone? But when you walk out of the room, you miss these people. Or in quarrels and misunderstandings where you think you are alone. These are the things that are at stake. But at the end of the day, everyone sticks together.

I have watched 1-2 another reactions to this song before, they were based on the video/story and didnt completely take a look at the lyrics, especially that "without you I am alone, with you I am alone too"-part. For me this is the part that contradicts the interpretation it is just about a lost lover/relationship. Especially when you look at "without you I count the hours" (like when Im not with you, it feels like a long time, counting hours ) and "with you, the seconds stand, not worth it" there is a discrepancy. This rather shows not a lost relationship but an existing, unsatisfying/unfulfilling relationship. Like: without you it feels like long hours, I wait for you. When you are there, the seconds stand still, not worth it, I dont get what I want when you are with me. I feel familiar to that part, maybe my interpretation goes too far, but for me I understand it as: Somehow I long for a person, miss her, but the time with her is not satifying enough because she doesnt listen or really care what I feel/say, so it is actually not worth it to maintain this relationship but still I cant end it and keep on living in that discprecancy but still wanting to break out somehow. fun fact: the band itself said the song was about the disharmony inside the band, it was about to break up, so it is about the cohesiveness of the band

Maybe you're a little too young to understand the feeling? In my opinion, it's about a relationship (regardless of whether it's a partnership or friendship) in which you miss the other person when they're not there. On the other hand, you also feel alone when the person is there (maybe because you have nothing more to say to each other). I think the song came about after disagreements in the band. They didn't want to break up, didn't want to be without each other. However, there were always disputes at meetings. PS: As always, a great reaction video from you! 👍
