This is probably why Haolan's son became a tryrant during his rule. In history, he slaughter his physicians, artist and servant, just for fun or if they may make a simple mistake. I don't believe smacking is used as punishment everytime however not even teaching your child, the principles of forgiveness(empathy) and manners is concerning. Haolan did teach him to consider his actions a few episodes back but she is displaying a bad example for her son by showing him, that you can get anything in life, if you manipulate, be cunning and use the people around you to get what you want to achieve. I know she has no choice but to cunning and manipulative to not get kill and protect her family but she should not encourage these methods in front of her son as he now thinking he can do whatever he wants.

I absolutely hate bad *ss little kids. Haolin’s parenting skills are lacking, period. She is very intelligent and resourceful, but is training her son to be a brute, not a king. And Yuren shares in the responsibility - he has to see what his son is becoming but apparently does nothing. This episode is so bad I am debating do I even want to finish the series. SPOILER ALERT: *************************************** Yiren apparently doesn’t make it to the end of the series, and Rudeboy becomes king. Without a good upbringing, he becomes a brutal tyrant who basically imprisons Haolin, his own mother, until her death.

Well yes, but he was also the first King ever to conquer all warring estates and became the first Emperor of China. He was the one who built the Wall, using force labor. He was equally terrible and a visionary. There is a drama, unrelated to this one, about his life. The King's Woman. It's really good, especially if you like history and politics. Plus Dilraba and VinVin are the leads.
