This SIM Swap Sh*t happened to me a few day before this past Christmas. Thank God I realized within about 2 min. what happened, but by the time I got my sim back within 20 min they had already locked me out of my emails, bank accounts, and Coinbase. Because i caught it so quickly I didn't lose a penny or a sat. Two words saved my ass, COLD STORAGE.

Anything that is on the cloud or automatically gets backed up to a cloud server is fair game. If you take a photo of passwords or seeds and they go to the cloud chances are you are screwed. That means onedrive or google one etc etc.

I finally did look at the Coldcard. The Coldcard seems excellent. But I would need a version without secure elements. Should be easy to do. But It's not a concern for most people. I was sim swapped a few years ago, they hacked me for low five figures, thank god I only held less than 10% of my BTC on an exchange. Now I hold 0% on an exchange while also changing my two-factor authentication. Do not use your phone # as a second level of security, use google authentication
