Traffic is much better a little thick near the snow play park . If you go early and head-out by 11-12pm you'll avoid the downhill traffic

@@TroutWest They shouldn't be letting water out for any reasons @ this point. It is looking like a bad year for snow and rain.
@TroutWest4 жыл бұрын
@@stevescofield7806 it is a bad year for southern California but the water that enters Silverwood Lake comes from northern California. Northern California still on Pace for normal or above average water. The reservoirs in northern California have to discharge the water into theaqueduct system which means they need to make room in Silverwood because of the incoming water.

Hey boss... do you ever have any luck throwing spoons or a drop shot @ Big Bear? I’ve always used floating baits when I’ve gone because they seem to always get bites. Just curious...
@TroutWest5 жыл бұрын
Spoons and drop shot work really well in the spring.. usually right after fry in the lake start to swing around and other fish tune into those baby fish.. location is key to use those type of lures. They do work and it can be very good if you get the right spot

How do you know if a random spot has fish, I just dont want to waste a whole time power waiting.
@TroutWest5 жыл бұрын
it's a complicated skill that you learned over time fishing but particularly with Big Bear there are a few factors that play into where I fish it certain times of year or even certain times of day. if you put all of the factors into place you will likely have fish out there in front of you but getting them to commit as you can see in this video is a different story. Sometimes it's wide-open sometimes they make you work

That's a pretty fish! Does Big Bear have a population of wild rainbows or are those all holdovers from stockings? I've heard they spawn in the inlet creeks in the spring.
@TroutWest5 жыл бұрын
they do have spawning trout in Big Bear both in the creek and let's when they flow and in the Sandy shore Beaches with gravel patches.
Yeah it’s s-l-o-w up there right now, those fish need some time to bang, then they’ll be back ready for some action!
