This is my take on the so called bite proof gloves. For rear fanged snakes yeah that would be a 99.9% chance of stopping the fangs. but for larger front fanged like a gaboon or other large fanged. i would give them an 40-60% of my trust.
@johnloughry76869 ай бұрын
I'd darn sure check them with a fake hand and a full grown gaboon before Id trust them with. My hand in them.
@rimrodi79 ай бұрын
I think that’s why they only use them on the smaller snakes

I don’t care if the company claims there 100% bite proof. One small defect in the glove and that could be your life.
@reptilespecialist52209 ай бұрын
Yes one small defect could be your life but that’s why they only sell those exact gloves which are “Venom Defenders” from one place to have near perfect quality control. Others may try to replicate those gloves but you can only get “Venom Defenders” from one place. These gloves have been tested on so many different species all withstanding the bites. They legally can’t say 100% chance, but they are as close as they come. Although, they do tell you that handling precautions are still advised and you shouldn’t do things out of the ordinary like seen here by Tyler BUT I have a pair and I have taken the same “risks” as seen here.

Would love to hear more of Tyler, and especially chandler’s, thoughts on things like these gloves and safety in general. Opposed to just always falling back on the protection of “I’ve been doing this for years” (which while true, isn’t technically a form of defense from envenomation)

This seems like it's just making an excuse to be able to freehandle hots for no reason other than showing off. What's the point besides showing off? Yeah, i could maybe see them being used for things like rear fanged snakes where a bite isn't necessarily deadly (not counting anaphylaxis), or stiletto snakes. But that would absolutely be it and at absolutely no point would I trust these to even hold a baby Gaboon or even an American copperhead. They take away a lot of dexterity and you don't have near as much control over the head, even if you pin and grab them like normal. They *may* be helpful when working, like picking up branches and brush in a heavily snake populated area to protect yourself. But that's what tools are for. Basically, what I'm saying is if you have a pair of these and use them on things that could literally kill you, or worse, you're asking for trouble and are just wanting to be able to show off without risking your life, even though that's whst you're doing. Sensationalism and attention seeking. That's all it is. Free handling snakes is what gets people bit and those bites are what causes regulations to be implemented. That's one of the main reasons why so many states have outlawed keeping hots and things like this only push the states where it's still legal towards bans. SC and TX are the best places to be a venomous owner right now, bit give it time and idiots will change that. Guaranteed. Now imagine if someone like Eric Pharr got hold of these..... 🤦

I would like to see the " bite trst" videos on those gloved. Just don't see standard leather as bite proof. I dont know if theyre kevlar reinforced. Betas long as there is any potential of a bite I would still use due diligence when handling any front fanged snake over 3ft., especially those muscular ones with force behind a well placed bite.

@Fizzyford9 ай бұрын
There ambush predators. They sit and wait for food all day long, humans aren’t prey items so they tend not to strike, but they will if felt threatened or having a feeding response.
@hannahreed24519 ай бұрын
If a snake is raised as a hatchling by a single person it is possible for them to recognize that human as a resource and they can be more docile around them. Not because they “love” that human, but because they know this human brings them food, fresh water, and is not a threat. However it is extremely important to understand typical behaviors of each venomous snake. While cobras are more active and curious, gaboon vipers are strictly ambush hunters. I had a friend who would introduce his as a “pet rock” because she would sit completely still for days at a time waiting for prey to scurry past. Once that prey gets within a short distance she would strike lightening fast where if you blinked you’d miss it. Gaboons are very observant, and while they may look harmless allowing you to get super close, it’s safe to assume it’s a trap. One wrong move (even if it’s literally centimeters off) and you’re dying an excruciating death. So the short answer is no lol, they are not chill by any means. But they are extremely intelligent and only use energy when necessary. The best word I’ve found that describes them is fascinating lol
@reptilespecialist52209 ай бұрын
These guys actually need to be soaked weekly or guided to water because they will sit in one place waiting for food for so long that they get dehydrated without going out to seek water in the chance that food will soon come by.
@reptilespecialist52209 ай бұрын
@@hannahreed2451 close but a little off as it doesn’t matter if it was raised by a single person or not or if it was raised since it was a hatchling. They aren’t super smart; they know threat or non threat, food or not food. As long as the owners or people caring for it don’t stress it out or give a bad experience to the animal than it won’t feel threatened by people under normal circumstances. Now that can change very easily based on situational differences. As long as you treat them with respect and are slow and calm; likely they’ll do the same due to them being less fearful of you in that instance. They do not recognize people, they recognize body movement similar to how we read them.
