In my experience Dapol mechanisms can be hit or miss, but they always nail the detail. 👍🏻 His size makes those bloody n couplings look enormous 😂😂

Glad to hear you had a good experience - my Dapol Terrier runs really poorly (very loud and coggy) and it's pickups are really all over the place, so I suspect I have dud!

Man SERIOUSLY?? I am so sorry to hear that that’s not fair at all to you. Mine was pretty loud pre-lubrication to the gears and running in so that may be a cause or help but brother, here’s to hoping you don’t have to deal with that parts store or buying another- 😭

Your Stepney model looks really good with the added face! I have one, too, that I’ve been thinking about adding a face to. Out of curiosity, what kind of clear coat do you use for your Thomas models? I think Thomas in particular looks really good with the glossiness toned down!

Thank you so much homie!! :) Usually I’m a one trick pony with paint and try to keep it to Tamiya, Thomas and Gordon both have a semi-gloss coat applied where Percy and others are straight matte. They’re all really good top coats it just kinda depends what finish you want in particular 😅

It's interesting seeing this up close. Mainly for the fact the model can't commit to what it wants to be. its not an A1 nor an A1x its just a weird hybrid that only really looks close to Poplar at a very far distance wish they would've done better on such a release.

@Jude-72 I have to agree but personally only found the issue in basic livery haha, it’s like a mix of Poplar and Piccadilly that says Stepney. Personally I don’t really find the A1/A1X debate too prevalent with it but that’s just me. When you’re dealing with such a small size I’m not sure how the longer boilers or larger sandboxes would translate in terms of visual difference. 😅 Plus Stepney was technically both so- poor little thing is probably just as confused lol

Re the wheels: it's probably because the body is painted but the wheel centred are not, so the plastic is a similar colour but won't always match. It's more cost effective and operationally reliable for model companies than the risk of fudging painting the centres and having a shoddy or even non-functional product.
