I’m really enjoying this project. I just love how much effort you put into helping the horse not feel wrong so much. One of my first riding lessons was with an instructor that stood in the center of the arena SHOUTING what not to do for an hour. Try as I might, I could almost never figure out what the right thing was! Horses must feel that way too!

I really love this mare. Some of this was hard for her but you can really see that she wants so badly to understand and her brain is working working working… that incremental consistency and patience is so crucial for a horse like this that has been so confused and scared and just has no idea what the rules are or who to trust. She strikes me as a deep thinker but luckily not too introverted. I said it on the last video but again I just think she’s so fortunate to have been turned over to you and Ryan! Those moments where what you’re teaching “clicks” are so rewarding, even through the screen, and I’m so impressed and pleased with the way you notice and acknowledge even the slightest move in the right direction. What you said about essentially reparenting this horse is so spot on… I’ve never heard a trainer put it quite that way but it’s exactly what’s needed. Looking forward to the next installment! Ps - Another poster mentioned the video was blurry but for me it wasn’t so May have been an issue on their end

I'm so glad to see her getting the slower training she needs. I commented on Ryan's video that I got a 4 y/o unbroke mare in August from the same kill pen as this mare. I didn't start trying to ride her until the end of November. She needed that time to decompress, be tamed, and learn to trust me and my intentions first. I couldn't believe in Ryan's video that this horse was so scared to just be touched, and they were trying to ride her

Really like this mare. Her actions are quick and distrustful, but she seems to be able to think when given a chaance! Enjoyed watching your approach and the positive effect it had. The owner has put her mare in good hands! She is being given a chance to become a partner with a human.....I do need to mention that your video came across very blurry.....like out of focus! Kind of hard on my old eyes!

I’m truly enjoying Remi’s journey. I truly appreciate how you read the horse using patience and know knowing when to back off, the quiet manner and voice you use. Never rushing and allowing the horse to understand what you want. I’ve seen some horrible treatment of horses which I was very lucky to have a teacher who really understood horses. Once you gain their trust you will have a willing partner.

Why cant you just teach the same thing with the halter? Can you imagine having flag in your face. I feel like i get it but i not sure if i like it coz you can do the same result with halter. I definitely want to understand your tjoughts on this? Cheers! @peartreeranch
@peartreeranch
@peartreeranch 8 ай бұрын
@@GingerCunt-y2b you don’t get the same thing g with the halter as that’s steady pressure. This is herding pressure to teach and then the flag is noise creating the perception of duress and the horse has the opportunity to choose head down. The flag works at a much greater distance than just the halter and the. Can be used as another way to communicate at distance. I can imagine having the flag in my face and I’d be a good horse and put my face down. Same as standing up too fast after hooking up a gooseneck trailer and hitting your head. Or learning the discomfort of a diaper load and learning to use the toilet to avoid the discomfort. Lots of examples of the same idea. Discomfort causes change.

Hi Jake, more great progress, well done. I gathered from Ryan's vid she's been broke etc, but not knowing how, were you happy to tie her with just the halter when her pen was first cleaned? Or did you tie to a breakaway or use a collar for the first time? Cheers Old Aussie

@clarktre308w
@clarktre308w 2 ай бұрын
Sorry I might not have phrased that right. If you're teaching a horse to tie initially, be it to a tree, fence rail or ground tie, do you hard tie them or allow them to pull off it and then use pressure to train them to stay? Cheers
@peartreeranch
@peartreeranch 2 ай бұрын
@@clarktre308w I don’t want them to learn to pull off it so I use the wrap method to add or subtract drag to allow a bit of slip and try and manage not getting them too scared by being trapped. But they need to learn the rope can and will stop them. If they have already learned to just pull free, I have a poll that makes the tie point high (makes it very hard to hurt themselves) and they have to learn to be controlled. Which usually means them pulling back, fighting a bit and learning that doesn’t actually work. And I use the rope halter with a rope “snap” that can’t break. There is a video of me using the poll in an episode of pear tree ranchin with a horse that learned to pull back badly and we helped.
