Catholic mom with an autistic son here. Communion also means in agreement with, so if you don't agree with the whole Catholic Church's teaching, it doesn't make sense to receive. Christopher has not been able to receive yet, and the idea is that we receive graces from receiving Communion, he doesn't have the ability to sin (can't control himself-but LOVED Isaiah's conversation about sin 😂) so he is the closest to Heaven as it is! Communion helps the rest of us get closer to Heaven! All these special needs kids are saints walking around and I try to remember that in the most trying moments. 🥰 Love seeing Abbie, love your family, love your channel!

Easter Seals Canada is an amazing organization that provides summer camps, fundraising. Providing those with disabilities and their families with funding for all sorts of things; from diapers to medical equipment. I worked for them in Ontario when my brother attended and it was incredible to see that social side of his life outside of our family.

The conversation about Abbie, Heaven, sin, communion etc was very funny. I was laughing and had to watch that exchange again! I don't take offence to anything that was said. There wasn't any personal attacks on anyone or any denomination. If someone has taken offence then I suggest you find something else to do with your time. Isaiah is so comical. I can appreciate his humour. I'm 62 and I'm not going to spend my time being petty. 😊

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada and worked at a camp for children and adults with disabilities for 5 summers. It is called Camp Easter Seal and is run by Saskabilities. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved. I consider it the best (and the hardest) job I ever did. Every session I went in nervous and came out crying because I met so many incredible people. We also have two other church sponsored camps in the province that I know of - Camp Thunderbird and Rosthern Bible Camp.

I was about to say, not if you’re Catholic. Even if you’re of another Christian denomination you’re not supposed to take communion; you’re supposed to cross your arms over your chest and the priest will (just) give you a blessing. We in fact are Presbyterian and just had this debate after attending a friend’s mother’s Catholic funeral. We had friends who were not Catholic who took communion and surprise: nobody burst into flames or turned into a pillar of salt. ;-)

The camp I go to is called Pilgrim Pines Camp and Conference Center in Oak Glen, California (Southern CA). I grew up there as a camp and as a volunteer and staff member. We have summer programs for people with developmental disability with 3 different age groups called Pinesters. What’s awesome about our summer camp program is that each week we have neuro typical campers separated into age groups and the Pinester program at the same time! We do a lot of all camp activities and throughout the day and have times for each age group and Pinesters to do their own activities. Because of camp I have always been comfortable and enjoy interacting with people with developmental disabilities in all settings.

My cousin who attended this camp when he was a kid and is now the medical director of this camp called Double H camp. It’s located in upstate New York and is not only a camp for sick kids but also a camp for kid with different disabilities.

There’s a nonprofit camp in Randleman, NC called Victory Junction!! Not church based, each week is designated to a certain diagnosis. I’ve worked there and it is one of the most special places on earth. You should look into it!!

My brother worked at camp for all in Texas for several years in programs. It is an amazing camp. He is now at a different camp. But if you ever get the chance to visit camp for all I highly recommend.

i have heel spurs and wear orthotics in my running shoes. around the house i wear a low heel soft Croc type shoe that molds around my foot. don't wear heels of any sort with plantar fasciitis. your feet will be sore.

My 3yr old daughter Autumn has what I believe to be Autism...I toom the online CARD survey which felt more like an assessment to me only to placed on a waiting list and its been 4 months now.. We used to have a Blind camp up here that was run by the seventh day admin in Oregon, but I don't think they do that anymore, but I'm sure there are other camps for the disabled around the United States

Hey Pricilla, many denominations have requirements to receive communion ie. being baptized or confirmed. I would encourage you to do some research on this and it may help you better understand your denomination and others.

I think it’s even more important to note the surprise from Priscilla that there are requirements to receiving communion. It’s more shocking that denominations have created criteria for who can and can’t. Christ didn’t make the disciples take a class before he offered it to them.

my daughter was baptized but they wouldnt let her receive the other sacrements even though thats what was what the usual with people with disabilities is to receive alll baptism, first communion, confirmation , etc it was so much work because of her disability to get her baptized. definitely made me think of the church differently
