There is actually a fries dish similar to poutine that was invented in the Netherlands called kapsalon (meat + fries + salad + gouda cheese melted in the microwave). The invetentor was a hairdresser/barber (kapsalon = hairdressing salon) and at the restaurant, he had the idea of asking for his favourite foods to be put together.
