Please welcome Sidse Babett Knudsen! Thanks. Well well, you almost danced down the stairs… Well, call it danced… Is it something you learn abroad? Welcome, and welcome home. And bonjour. Merci beaucoup. Let’s start with Westworld, this big American tv series. It was surrounded by a lot of hush-hush, and you weren’t allowed to know what was going to happen, even if you starred in it. I think that’s a bit out of the ordinary, what was your experience? Yes, but that was necessary because it’s a very mysterious series with an awful lot of surprises and twists and turns and things. It was important that nothing leaked. But they were really extreme with it. When I was going to read the first episode, it was emailed to me. And then came another email with a password, so that I could go into a third email and register, and when all these codes had been entered I received access to the actual manuscript for three hours. And I got nervous because what if I needed to pee or something would happen, and I wouldn’t have time to read it all! So I thought “smart, I’ll just take my own scenes and photograph them with my iPad”. So I did that. Click! And the whole thing disappeared! No trace of it whatsoever. So it was very very secret. Is that the difference? With Westworld, there’s a huge budget, really big stars, and many robots. That, compared to working on Borgen… The difference is huge, no? Yes, it’s something bigger. The whole thing is much bigger. All these trailers and… Did you have your own trailer? Yes, of course, I had my own trailer. Didn't you have that on Borgen? No, I didn’t. I had my own dressing room. So one has one’s own trailer? Yes, you have your own trailer, and there’s one, what is it called… Butler? Yeah, you have your own slaves. No, but there is one amazing trailer, that I suddenly can’t remember what is called… craft service! That is like a paradise, a trailer you can enter and inside there is everything of everything! You can make food, there are snacks, there are sweets, there are cookies, ice cream, all sorts of soda. There is also some drinks, there is almonds and fruits. There is everything! You can go there, whenever you want. It’s open all the time. It’s good that you came abroad. Good that we got this career going. I think we should see a clip from Westworld. Here it comes.film clip How was it to act along with Sir Anthony Hopkins? It doesn’t get any better. One knows he’s a fantastic actor, but it’s so virtuos, so sublime. He’s so superior. And he’s got such presence, and generosity… A bit like we have now? Or? I’ll just keep going, Mads… [continues from] Such presence… He’s got hair on his head. No… He’s very interesting. I don’t think we should compare him to you. It would be unfair. I was taken by a moment. Let’s go back to Anthony Hopkins. Yes. The presence. Let’s stay with him. One gets attracted to him, because of his presence. Such an amazing human being. Again, I don’t think we should compare him to you. Well, it’s just because you say one gets attracted to him. Yes, he composes orchestral music, he paints, he knows everything about everything and is curious. And there’s that feeling that you are in a class with a master. There’s nothing he needs to prove, he’s not interested in seeing how amazing I am, or something. He’s done all that already, it’s just a gift shop. It was so amazing, to work with him. And he has seen Blå Mænd (aka Take the trash), which I found very funny. “It’s you from Blå Mænd”, he said. Isn’t that funny? I thought it is really funny. He thought it was a funny movie. He isn’t the only Oscar winner you have worked with. You have also worked with Tom Hanks. And I know you were chosen to this role because you are fantastic, and a skilled and serious actress - you starred together in Inferno, that Dan Brown story. Sidse - Tom Hanks is standing before you in a scene - do you think to yourself; "This is Tom Hanks"..? Yes. There was not one second when I wasn’t aware that this is Tom Hanks. You simply can’t forget that. But he is in a role. You have different hats on. Yeah, but… I have done two movies with him. The first time was quite overwhelming for me. And that was a film we shot out in the desert in Morocco, and there in a tiny village, we sit, eating the local dish which is something with some peas and carrots. And the entire village is standing there, saying “Forrest Gump!”. That’s pretty crazy, eh? It’s crazy that he’s got this capacity to spread good humor in a radius of many kilometers. People can recognize something very human in him, he’s really really special. So you can’t forget that it’s Tom Hanks in front of you. Did he also see Blå Mænd? No, actually he hasn’t. He has seen Borgen though. But we shouldn’t hold that against him. You’re absolutely fantastic! Thank you very much, Mads. It means a lot to me. Sidse, I’d like to congratulate you on a fantastic 2016! It was a pleasure to have you here. Happy new year!
