After buying the bike he started giving home tution in the evening as traveling to tutions via public transport was buring his time. Now he is earning more money in the tution business tha his school salary, even after changing his main job and getting higher salary than before. If he at that time followed those finance influencers he would still be doing monthly sip of 1500 rupees instead of earning 3 times of what he was earning. These rules are usually approximations or guidance on the lines of a bigger concept of affordability. If not be 20-4-10, it can be 30-5-20. Question is do you have enough savings in cash to be left with short term goals and emergency needs even after paying 30% in down payment? Is the additional interest worth it for each additional year of loan? Can you afford 20% of earnings going towards car EMI when you already have rent or house EMI? Proportions might change but core concept of affordability and trade-off is still there.

Some dos for buying a used car. Try to buy it from a person or a dealer you or your friend know personally. Keep looking for the best deal until you find it. Don’t rush to buy a used car in a hurry. Tell your friends and relatives about your buying intent. The chances are you find someone from your circle who wants to sell a car. Take someone with you who knows how to inspect a car properly. Negotiate as much as you can and make the seller realize you want to buy the car genuinely. I managed to bring the car price down by 80k by delaying the purchase. Selling used cars is a painfull process, so people can sell it at a lower price if they find a genuine buyer.

I relied on Cabs (Ola/ Uber etc) for over a decade. Yes, Maths may tell you to use cabs since there is no ownership cost but the day the outstation cab charged me 4K (for one side), I bought a car since that was egregious. I fully agree that own car gives you convenience and predictability. For market hustles, I prefer cabs/ autos or public transports, for rest, I love my car 😍. Note: I agree to the statement about social validation. I took the car I needed vs what people around me wanted. I am happy with my Tigor Petrol AMT since it meets my needs. So petrol cost 58000. Using car for 2 years cost me around 113000 Indian rupees. I had plan to buy Honda Jazz for 350000. That was on hold seller asking for 385000. In between I found 2010 model Tata nano in very good condition. My decision was absolutely correct because initially people was making fun of me including my wife. Bro, Also make videos based on categories like most fun to drive cars, enthusiast's favourite cars, worst cars of all time, underrated and overrated cars. Add these videos to your upcoming series. I am sure most of your audience would love that. ❤

If you even have 15-20 kms running even 5 days a week (basically NCR corporate guy), uber fare will be more than car EMI+Maintenance

Used Honda City is the best option, i have owned 2 generations of City, except for the ground clearance part, those cars are made to last and very comfortable as well. I had a used Skoda Rapid TDi after 2 used Honda Citys and I now own a Nissan Magnite Turbo CVT. Its been a year since we bought it. Total VFM. Yes, the interiors may not be to everybody's liking, but 4 star safety rating, space and most of the creature comforts. Very underrated product by Nissan.

It is good that you have made a video on this topic. mostly we only see other Car Influencers who are busy with new launches of cars and their monthly sale reports, It feels good that i follow the right person All the best in ur life keep doing the good work.

I completely agree with you 💯 if the budget is low one can opt for used cars from certified used cars vendors. I myself purchased a used car which is running without any trouble. Used cars also have less depreciation rate which is also a plus point. Don't follow such illogical financial influencers' calculations for getting a dream car.

- Keep in mind that car is not an asset like gold, equity or real estate, its a utility, buy it like that and use it like that. Just like a mobile phone. - My affection towards my own new car faded after 2-3 months of use. - I was not able to buy car which I like, but fortunately bought a car without a loan.

NEVER USE CARS24: I sold my flooded Honda WR-V VX to them for just 30% of the cost i bought it(it was 6 years old, but only 33k kms on the odo) few months later I got to know someone had bought the car, which is expected, but he bought it for 7 lakhs! he didnt know that the car was flooded.. 7 lakhs for a flooded car is insane and whats worse is, they didnt give the new owner the rc yet, and when they called them up, they connected him to a fake call with a person pretending to be me! idk much about law but i can tell that is very illegal not only that, the flood had caused major damage to the suspension which is now an unnecessary expense for the new owner i suggest you to only buy used cars from known people

Price of used cars in 2024 has gone up unrealistically, I always bought used cars before because a car is a depreciating asset, I bought a 2008 Swift with 8,000 kms on the ODO at 3 lakhs in 2014 and a 2011 Sx4 with 35k kms on the ODO in 2018 for 1.5 lakhs, now in 2024 I was looking for either a used Maruti or Hyundai sedan, premium hatchback or compact SUV with criteria being the car should not be more than 6 years old and not have more than 50k kms on the ODO, couldn't find anything less than 6 lakhs that was worth buying, even a 2016 Baleno, an eight year old car with 15K Kms on the ODO had an asking price of 5.7 lakhs. Made the decision to go for a brand new car considering the amount of discounts being offered and Just booked a Fronx with an on road price of a little north of 8 lakhs, with the asking prices of Used cars today it just makes more sense to put an additional 2-3 lakhs and buy a new car, btw I sold my SX4 in 2024 for more than I bought it in 2018, that should tell you how much of a sellers market the used car market has become in India

One of my rich friend give me advice when I told him that instead of buying car one should use cab, He told me "In that sense you should also not get married because that is costly affair 😂" then I realise first car first home is not just buying thing. It's more about owning and making it part of your life which not necessarily be compared with financial calculations

For those who want to buy a used car but are unsure as to which car brand to look out for, then don't think of any other brands apart from these 4 in order: Maruti, Hyundai, Toyota and Honda.

till the time cars are treated as status symbols, people will take loans to buy cars outside their budget. we should start treating cars as a mode of transport.

Just buy a popular car with ample space and use this car for minimum 15 years along with proper maintenance . Its a best case scenario ,no need of any calculation.

Sabse best option hai office ke nasdik rent pe reh lo. Commute ka kharcha ek to khatam hojayega nhi to bohot Kam hojayega.. not helpful though if you were at some airport hanger and stuff.. In my opinion though public transport is a service to the nation. It decreases traffic on roads and makes our roads feel more friendly to pedestrians and in general also. Just wanted to keep my opinion, have a good day!!
