Para não rasgar o melhor seria usar borracha látex, ou o silicone é melhor?
@brickintheyard10 ай бұрын
Latex is great for concrete casting but not for resin and foam. 5110 is ideal for casting polyurethane resins and expanding foams.

What would you recommend for casting a deer skull w antlers?
@brickintheyard17 күн бұрын
@@johndenver5029 I would use a firmer silicone like TC-5130F thickened with SC-5001
@johndenver502917 күн бұрын
@brickintheyard thanks for the fast response. I'm completely new to this and trying to absorb what I can. If I was looking to make a 1 time cast to turn said antlers into aluminum what process would you use? Or would you do the process demonstrated here w the change to firmer silicone and hardener?

With your store now defunct, where would you recommend we go for our silicone needs?
@brickintheyard3 ай бұрын
BJB Enterprises has all the silicone you see in my videos, and they have excellent tech support. Check the updated links in recent videos (including this one.) You can also go to Fox and Superfine in Georgia. Both will have the TC-5110F from this video.

How much 5110 should i get to make a similar mold to do what you did in this video?
@brickintheyard2 ай бұрын
@@scotthalt4040 this took about 2lbs. I think the smallest kit BJB offers is a 4lb kit so that would be more than enough.
@scotthalt40402 ай бұрын
thanks! I've seen some places have 2 lb kits and you can get 3 of them for the price of 1 4lb kit also.

@@scotthalt4040 I think Fox and Superfine have 2lb kits.
@scotthalt40402 ай бұрын
Definitely daw 2lb kits on Fox. My intent is to try and make some skulls with a 90* piece/ mount coming out of the base to mount to a wall for motorcycle helmets. Any suggestions for material? I was thinking pourable resin, maybe?

@@scotthalt4040 TC-808 is good for solid and rotational casting and works well for automotive applications.

Great video! Would I be able to pour flexible prop foam in a 5110 silicone mold?
@brickintheyard9 ай бұрын
Yes, but the firmer silicones, like 5130 or 5140 are better suited for self-skinning flexible foam.

@@brickintheyard Awesome! Thank you for the reply. Can I still make a mold out of the 5130 silicone? Thanks again. And thank you for all the awesome content.

@@HesCrafty yes. Just be sure to account for the expansion force of the foam.

Is the 5110 better to use for than your platsil 10 silicone?
@brickintheyard10 ай бұрын
Not so much as better as different. 5110 is a slower setting, lower viscosity formula so there is more working time and it is much easier to use for poured molds, also less expensive.
@jacklambert495810 ай бұрын
I do like the idea of a longer working time. Thank you

How can I pour concrete skulls in this manner?

I'm so happy I'm not the only person researching this,..for totally normal person, normal reasons.
@brickintheyard5 ай бұрын
You could use this for concrete casting. But you might want to make a slightly thicker mold with a resin mother mold using TC-5130.
