Bivouac on the Beach with Only a Tarp and Bug Screen

Welcome to ultralight backpacking. If you reduce your pack weight, hiking will be much more fun; you will have energy to go places that you would not have gone before.
In this episode, I bivouaced on the sand dunes at Matagora Beach, Texas, USA. This was minimalist camping, where I slept only a ground cloth with a bug screen. The weather was perfect: high temperature 97 F (36 C), low temperature 79 F (26 C). The scenery was beautiful, with a spectacular night sky. I soon discovered that this idealic setting was accompanied by many creepy crawlers such as mosquitoes, biting flies, rodents and rattlesnakes.
I fine-tuned my kit to include 1) Soda can stove and Stanley 20 oz stainless steel pot, 2) Bug screen and ground cloth, 3) Coldsteel Bushman knife / spear for food gathering and protection. I deleted unnecesasry items: hammock, hammock straps, hammock tarp, extra stakes
My fully loaded pack for this trip without food and water was 6.2 lb (2.8 kg):
