Great video, beautiful place. Am really enjoying the series. I recently got a hammock and am still working on the setup. Was wondering if that tarp would be big enough for the wind and thunderstorms here. Thanks for the inspiration!
@KennethKramm8 жыл бұрын
The tarp is small and it worked in this situation only because it was close to me and low to the ground. If the wind was stronger. I would have hung everything a few inches lower, to reduce the chance of water blowing in.

Hey any more thoughts on the Ozark Trail atka pack? I saw it passing through vids and when it was $19 delivered I had to. Also is the cardboard alum stove safe in terms of aluminum exposure? Also can I use an alcohol stove (Out-D/trangia).
@KennethKramm8 жыл бұрын
So far I like it; I've been looking for a similar size pack that is better made (with more pockets), but not have been able to find any that weight less than one pound. I'm continuing to look at it. I'm not concerned about the alum oven. The sides of the oven are never heated about 400 F. This is well below the melting point / or burning /oxidizing of aluminum. So there shouldn't be a problem Yes you could you an alcohol stove. However, most alcohol stoves burn hotter, so the internal oven temperature would quickly go above 450 F. and would burn bread, etc. Also, most alcohol stoves don't burn very long before needing to be refilled. Stereo is gelled alcohol and it burns a little slower. so it works. Also, Biofuel burns slower, so it works. Alternatively, you could burn one or two lumps of charcoal. The cardboard oven works very well with charcoal (but it a small stainless steel dog bowl)...Then the cardboard oven. This is my preferred way to use the cardboard oven. I sometimes cook the meal in a small stainless steal dog bowl. There are many ways to use these ovens. Good luck and enjoy experimenting with the oven. ...ken

the biggist thing i hate about wallmart tarps is there to thick and to heavy.. so i mostly use mine at home under the airbed thats very over priced in todays market and thats why i never use camping sites.. to much to clean up (or gag over.. i love the bueaty hate seeing what others treat it tho.. you should try to get a lighter shirt if u can so you dont die going threw that heat..
@KennethKramm8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. Interesting comments. I agree that Walmart tarps, that are sold as tarps are thick and heavy. Although the tarp I am using is sold at Walmart, it is not sold as a tarp. It is a "sidewall" to a 10 x 10 foot canopy. This sidewall is ripstop nylon, lighter weight than my expensive Henssesy Hammock Hex Tarp that cost $70 versus the $15 that I paid for the sidewalk. It only weighs a few ounces. It is an excellent tarp, much better than any other hammock tarp available. Concerning my shirt, its is a lightweight synthetic and is breathable. It is designed to keep me cool (vented) and and does so effectively. Also, I am dealing with skin cancer, and so it is important to wear long sleeves, a hat and sunscreen. The undershirt and trunks are also synthetic and wick water away from the skin, keeping me cool.
@thunderlord22008 жыл бұрын

Hi Ken! I love the idea of stuffing bags with keaves for a mattress. I saw that once on Dave Canterbury's channel. However the crinkling of the plastic annoyed me...and it made me sweaty. So I came up with a different idea... I now use burlap sacks. Treated them with Permethrin to kill the ticks and bugs. Quiet, light, cheap and not as sweaty! Not as light as the plastic bags, nor as cheap. But very durable. Hope this helps someone! - Mike
