TOM OUTDOORS

Күн бұрын

I went for a solo walk and wild camp on the Suffolk coast at Walberswick, with an ultralight set up including my Rab Ridge Raider hooped bivvy bag.
The walk was only 4.25 miles long and the weather was mostly cloudy, with a little rain here and there. I knew the area fairly well, having been through there on the Suffolk Coast Path many years ago.
I visited the ruinous windmill situated in the middle of Westwood marshes, a World War II pillbox, the ruins of St. Andrews church in the graveyard of the present parish church, as well as a little look around the village.

Completely agree with your sentiment Tom that the great outdoors gives us memories we'll never forget, I think we walk them into the landscape to revisited in the future. Now you've made me want to go back to Southwold

I'd love to visit this area, looks great. Like the way you mix it up with your gear, you never replicate a camp which is tough to do when you do so many.................very enjoyable Tom.....cheers,Stu.

thanks mate, much appreciated, some people find it annoying. but maybe theyre just jealous that i have saved and managed to afford all my different gear. maybe. who cares. the reason i dont replicate IS because I do so many lol. it would get a bit boring very quickly. a wise person once said that you should try something different every time you go out wild camping. thanks for watching pal.

Excellent video. I did the same walk from the AA book and slept last night in a similar place in a German army bivy. There are some good places beside the footpath on the dunes that are sheltered from the sea breeze. The landscapes in this area are terrific aren't they. Keep up the good work!

Yes I tweeted a few photos earlier today at @danielbardsley1, but didn't take any video. If you ever head up to Norfolk, Burnham Overy Staithe is a good place for another coastal wild camp and the AA guide for Norfolk has a nice walk there.

I like the idea of sleeping in a bivi, always have but they are a bit confining. Snow white and I tried to double up in my O.R. advanced bivi but tore a seam before sun up. They relapsed it for free. life time guarantee!

timtim0007 no mate. I tend to prefer lightweight and ultralight equipment because I do a lot of walking and it's just nicer having a simplified approach to equipment. If you're local we could organise a group meet up and camp in the near future.

timtim0007 that's fine mate, as long as you've got all the equipment you need. I'm thinking of doing some group meet ups with people who are new to wild camping, to give them the opportunity to try it out and have someone to go with. Need to plan it out first.

As long as you dont cause noise & nuisance and dont see why this would be illegal in england in any way. Done it plenty of times fishing in a similar manner and no one has ever said anything. Looking at doing something similar this year using my kayak on the river stour. Pulling up in some nook & crannie somewhere to stop overnight.
