Way ahead of his time. It's so interesting that he knew Louis Armstrong, two greats.

Always loved Louie's punching gusto filled style. Bixes style had the sound of those to come in the 30,40s and 50s like Bunny Berrigan and Bobby Hackett.

Armstrong's memories of playing with Beiderbecke are on KZbin.

There's some interesting Bix material in Mezz Mezzrow's book, Really The Blues.

If Bix's father had supported him he would have lived longer, rather than drinking himself to death. Such a great lose to the music world.

Bix’s family was supportive of his music overall, especially his brother Burnie who managed a local record store for a while. There’s a longtime spun dramatic story about Bix’s unopened records being found in a closet of his family’s home. I believe this circumstance was taken out of context just to make a story out it, personally.

So he was a pedophile and an alcoholic, and it's all someone else's fault? Grow up.
