Just picked one up used for 19.95. Seems like a very nice pedal. Gonna get used on my practice rig. Had a 10 band mxr which I wonder if people are using them correctly as I've never had a noise issue. Have a 10 band MXR on my pedal board. Now I only use mine for slight adjustments, never more than 6 or 7 db + or -. Slight tone adjust or compensate for diff. rooms. I figure more than that and you may need to focus on dialing in your amp better. Tho the one on my practice rig one day just started crackling. I assume a cap went south, This biyang is dead quiet and seems to work as well as any Boss I've ever had. I think people make too much about true bypass. The small diff. most pedals make are only noticed by the user in a quiet room, audience will never know.

I've got an MXR 10 band that I run thru my fx loop and was gna get another one to run after my EHX metal muff but now I think this Biyang will do that trick perfectly. Thanks for the straight forward review and no talk lol.

put it this way guys, biyangs overdrive pedal has the beloved jrc4558 chip and its at that affordable price, these guys are no joke, top notch quality all around. Boutique quality without the boutique price

I sold my MXR 10-band for this EQ pedal. A big plus that needs to be noted is that the MXR's EQ uses 18 volts. Biyang's EQ only uses 9 volts.

Hi, the Biyang EQ seems to be very low-noise. Can you confirm that? I use a cheap Behringer EQ but the noise is very annoying.

this pedal IS NOT TRUE BYPASS no matter what it says on the pedal housing. I just got one and there is an obvious difference in tone when going straight into the amp or through the pedal with the pedal off (obviously). Its a good EQ otherwise. but I'm a bit pissed at the moment. maybe its the cable - who knows - I'll try again but otherwise I feel like they are full of shit.

What was your conclusion in the end?
@coppulor65004 жыл бұрын
@@wrathpsp I'm not going to answer you because noone freaking answers my questions. So.......I do think its a good pedal - but I'll be honest with you. I am not really a pedal board kinda guy. I'm a rack unit with floor controller kinda guy. Been that way since the late 80's. I don't play live and haven't for years but I hope to again when life allows it. Just local stuff for fun. I really want a kemper or similar. I want the all-in-one solution like I used to use ages ago (started with Roland GP-8, the digitech DSP2101 then rocktron chameleon - power through tube rack amps toward the end and then through a 4x12 boogie cabinet and holy shitballs I got some great tones. - for the era - but even looking back and recordings, I am not disappointed in the least. I'd take inspired playing over great tone any day (to a degree obviously - a pretty significant degree but you know what I'm saying). I don't know what the hell to do. I honestly think putting all that sensitive shit into a device meant to be stomped on thousands of times and exposed to beer spills etc like is all the rage right now is insanity. yeah, its simple. great. simple to damage. I would always go rack with controller. Not to mention, have fun bending over a million times to adjust parameters. At this point, I suspect I'd go kemper, helix, and fractal in that order - there is a rack helix fyi. But I'm in no hurry honestly. Got too much shit to deal with - between family and work and mold remediation work on this piece of SHIT 1982 house, it leaves little time for playing. I will tell you a few things I've learned that have been great. First, a guitar should look on your like it does on John Mayer, steve vai or yngwie or Hendrix or SRV etc. that means unless you are 6' 3" or have spider fingers like vai or Paul gilbert, the rest of us are playing guitars that do NOT fit us. tell me a strat cant sound like a strat with a shorter scale? bull fucking shit. I have a 24" scale squier student guitar, my PRS is a 25" scale and warmoth makes 24 3/4" scale necks for strats. guess what I play most often? the 24" scale. I see that coming in the future. fuck 25.5" for every goddamn strat or clone out there. yes, I have 5 guitars at that scale length and love them but I don't have to fight the other shorter scales nearly as much. And since I don't play often, I dont have the finger strength anymore. When I finished touring, my left arm looked like Popeye's lol. seriously, my forearm looked almost bizarrely over-developed. Anyway, I say explore shorter scale - properly the most important for me. Second, fender is fucking ssssoooooooooooooooooooooooooo stupid. The Super champ X2 is absolutely incredible. yet, no foot controller for patches, no development of that line of amps. digital pre and tube power. the ultimate combination. sounds and more importantly FEELS incredible. if they made a combo with a 12" with even just like 10 presets and a boost, good lord. It would destroy. fucking idiots. probably afraid it would crush their other amp lines I guess. I play through that amp 95% of the time even though I have some other great amps - all tube. Anyway, they are not expensive and are perfect for bedroom or home playing etc. and they have a speaker out and make a 12" extension cab which I will own one day. I guess, I am going to just have to wait and see what mooer and other competitors come up with that is more in my price range. oh, I also dig what the guys at Revv are doing. built in two notes torpedo load box, loadable impulse responses and I think 5 patches you can save. finally someone with their head not up their asses. lastly, Eric Gales is the second coming of hendrix and SRV in one person. : )

@@coppulor6500 I'm disappointed to hear that this EQ pedal is not true bypass as that is a deal killer for me. your's is the first review i've read, albeit there aren't that many i could find, that mentions this. it gets good reviews otherwise. where are you now with this pedal, a year on from you posting here? i shall have to check out Eric Gales.
@coppulor65002 жыл бұрын
@@tom-dahl1598 i don't use it but I must admit, it is most definitely a powerful tone shaping tool. I would not hesitate to use it in the right situation. I would also likely sell it for the right amount. Mine had some kind of (minor) defect in the housing. Looks perfect but getting a battery in there was brutal. I finally was able to but it ws a pain. There is just not enough room to easily fit a battery I guess unless it was just my particular unit. No sign of damage or wear to suggest it ws used. Impressive in function but not my thing really. I though about building a pedal board. Got a few pedals together and a biard with power supply for 10 pedaks I think. Anyway, life got in the way and, as chance would have it, today is the day I beat the mold in this fucking house. I would never recommend remediation of your own house to anybody but I've been a home inspector for 25 years and I remodeled a few homes prior to that so I know what I'm doing far more than most. Even then, there was hidden mold that nobody could detect or find. I even used a mole dog which alerted me to areas where there was no reason to look. Thank God for that dog :-) I'm really more of a multi-effects guy so I don't really know how this compares to the EQ in fractals or the camper or helix etc. But with prices of multi effects units coming down and modeling stuff quality in general going up, I think it might be time to tip my toes into the fractal world (Even though the limitless options and fractal units is probably going to make me a bit frustrated). So I'm not a great resource to ask in general about individual pedals since I never use them consistently.
@tom-dahl15982 жыл бұрын
@@coppulor6500 your insights have been very useful. I've gone for something else based on a few conversations but, if my choice doesn't work out, this unit is next on my list. kempers/fractal and the like are still out of my budget at the moment so buying individual pedals as and when i can afford them is my only option to producing the sounds i'm looking for. all good things in time. I'm glad to hear your house problems got sorted.
