ABOUT THIS VIDEO
In this video we discuss simple stretches to fix foot pain. You'll learn two stretches that fixed my plantar fasciitis foot pain, and one strengthening exercise that will help you relieve and prevent foot pain in the future. These stretches and exercises don't require you to stretch your calves and ankle muscles. These foot pain stretches don't even target your feet, even though the results will help your feet!
I used to get intense heel pain in the morning every time I got out bed. Walking down the street hurt my feet. When I discovered these hip stretches and exercises fixed my foot pain, I couldn't believe it.

Which foot goes in front--the one with the pain? Of course , it's a good idea to do both sides anyway. How long does it take to make it go away * days/weeks?*
@er3117

As far s I understand, the healthy foot goes in front. The one with the pain goes behind. You can feel the flexors stretching on that leg that goes behind, therefore the relief on that foot

Oh Thankyou so much for your bizarre fix. I have battled plantar fasciitis for 9months, trying all the other options….massage balls, orthodics, bare feat shoes, calf stretches and strengthening, cut out running and sport….to No or little benefit. Once I stretched out my hip flexors I noticed the pain was gone….it came back quote soon after but I though why?? Well I was sitting on my arse again in front of that computer or on a plane or driving a car causing my hip flexors / core to be tight again. But once I stretch it out the heel pain disappears. I can run again !!! Thankyou so much!!! I paid so much on doctors and podiatrist fees, X-rays, ultrasounds, stupid stability shoes, crappy show inserts….OMG 10 second stretch shows the problem.

Found this channel a year ago when I thought I might need surgery for my hip pain, which was a terrifying thought. The pain was so bad I had even switched to a different car because I couldn't use the clutch anymore. Then after a couple years, the pain started on my other hip. Following a different video you made for that issue fixed it completely. Years of pain and it was gone. I couldn't believe the solution was so simple. As long as I keep up with those exercises a couple times a week, the pain doesn't return. Lately, I've been having more and more problems with my feet "plantar fasciitis", I was told. After just the first attempt at the first two exercises in this video, I found the relief to be amazing. And again, a couple times a week, and the pain is no more. Thank you so much! I'll just add that I've always been physically active, lifted weights, and thought myself to be in good shape. Obviously, there are areas that have been neglected, and these issues seem to be cropping up as I get older. Thank you again for all the work you put into these videos. They are very well done and easy to follow. I enthusiastically recommend your channel to anyone I hear complaining about the issues you cover.

Dealing with a year old injury, wherein I broke my sacral bone and damaged the sciatic nerve. Significant muscle atrophy because of pain induced inactivity. Just recently having a flare up of plantar fasciitis and the shin pain caused from favoring the heel. Finally realized that the whole thing has shortened my hamstring. So when I saw this video come up on my home page, it made a whole lot of sense to me. Thank you SO much for answering SO many questions in one video!! BTW I'm 70, otherwise very healthy and previously very strong, so this last year's unprecedented pain, lack of strength and mobility was causing me to feel like my body had betrayed me. I did these exercises after trying the traditional remedies and I agree about minimal shoes and an ex runner .. so I did the stretches and then I got a burning sensation in the fasciitis in the outside of my heel. I will do the stretching you recommended and I’ve become sedentary lately and that’s what brought this on again plus I’m detoxing and believe oxalate dumping has brought this issue back after years of healing. Thank you for reminding me to stretch in this manner.

Just watching you start with hips. I’ve had plantar fasciitis and arcillies pain in both feet for a few years now on and off. No one really looked into the cause - just got given a bunch of the usual to do. I always thought it was weird it was both legs-and it would often be irritated from doing nothing. Recently I got a hip injury so was working on stretching and mobility in the area - 90% of the pain for both issues went away.

Tin Man Here. HI all. Been a while. I'm sure my phone is talking to your phone Matt cause my plantar fash flared up about a week ago. This morning I wake up to your vid on how to work your plantar fasciitis. Timely! Yes I've done the lacrosse ball and pinch the heel and though I do hip flexor stretches every day and the "four", I will double and triple those efforts. And after a summer of almost daily visits to the gym, this Tin Man is becoming less of a Tin Man. I do your morning workout from the FAI fix every single day. In this ever changing world in which we live, I hope you continue to keep doing what you are doing for some time yet. Gracias

Cool ideas! I am a long distance hiker and had knee problems the first 2000 miles I hiked. Then I noticed a correlation with my knee pain and my pack hip belt. I stopped using hip belts and now have done 8000 miles without knee pain. I say this because the hip stretches you recommend actually immediately started to help with the plantar fasciitis I am dealing with now and I didn't think to loosen my hips. To add to your bigger picture suggestions and while in the seated position of your second exercise, I found one the best things I could do is indirectly work on the tibialis posterior. Use both hands. One in groove between gastrocs and the medial tibia. Locate sore spot, then use other hand to explore in this same groove to get release/increase awareness. Do some resisted small foot movement after, to effect an eccentric contraction on the tibialis posterior. My hypothesisis is that the tibialis posterior fixes ROM and needs increased ROM to positively help with the "information/proprioceptive) issues that accompany plantar fasiitis.

For those who must do the pigeon stretch while standing, you can use a chair either with arm rests or not. A kitchen chair is probably the easiest. Stand to the side of the chair and grip the back or the chair for balance. Put your leg sideways on the chair as shown in the video. Keeping a straight back try to bend forward. I used to use this stretch for an injury years ago and it helped me so that now I am able to do the stretch as shown in the video or as the yoga pose.

I saw a Massage Therapist/Physio Therapist yesterday and he told me exactly the same thing, he said my Plantar Fasciitis is coming from my hip. He gave me some exercises to do. The first one you showed here I did and I feel amazing... I’m going to add this to my exercise regime. I wear a uniform which includes a certain type of Ladies shoe which make this very tricky for me.

I am a senior 76 years old and these excerise they teach in Silver Sneakers Class. I have gotten away with doing these stretches. Thank you for your reminder. The first excerise for seniors you can actually do it sitting down on a chair. You are so right! I asked my doctor if the pain in my foot was coming from my hip?? I was told no this is only a foot problem.

Transitioning to barefoot shoes was the only thing that got rid of my plantar fascitis pain. Building muscle in the feet is the only way to take the stress off the plantar fascia.

Thank you for underlining what I suspected. I have tried everything, physiotherapy, ice, injection etc but nothing worked. I remarked that some positions help and some others don' and this had nothing to do with the painful spot. So I " suspected" that healing had nothing to do with all the stuff that I had tried but I just had to enforce my body so that it could be able to heal on its own. And then I saw your video and I understood that I was not the only one who came to this conclusion. So thank you once again I continue with muscle strengthening and hope

Too cool, for I too JUST had an explosion of plantar fascitis- " food prep" job on concrete ... taping & working my feet, ankles etc; you're 💯 correct! - feels good, kinda helps, but NOT ' FIXING' the issue..then me brain& body reminded me: plantar FASCIAtis !!Fascia ! ALL connected! Kicked the ' stretching up 10 knotches- doing hip/ hip flexor, Top thigh & hamstring stretching ... holy cow !! I couldn't believe how much the rest of my legs ' atrophied ' !!! Regular stretching of these areas, like you said, MADE ALL the difference !! & now I'm finding that adding other strengthening exercises & with a bit of ' weight ' is REALLY making it all happy !! I guess I was on right path, thinking: plantar fascitis is JUST an expression of other issues! That you for this vid ! You've cut through All the ' miss-guided' ( medical) information that just keeps/ kept us ' looping ' in pain without a solution

I was wondering if you had some content for Achilles tendons please ? I can't seem to find any on your platform. I walk the beach on rocks every day, alot of movement! But so beautiful and peaceful.I walked alot of miles last week and then danced for a couple of hours one night, my Achilles tendons swelled up for the first time ever😢 I've had some pain but this has never happened, I'm going through menopause and my tendons are so sensitive, I was wondering if you could please help us menopausal women how to prevent that. And understand it. I would so appreciate if you made a video about that☺️ thankyou from New Zealand ❤️

Yup same. Had it in one foot from a standing up 10+ hours on concrete floor kinda job, with rubber mats but maybe not enough. Cycle a lot so hip flexors often tight, stretched them a bit always but obviously not enough. Seen 4 different physio, at least 4 podiatrist's and none really suggested anything other than padding the shoes, changing shoes and being gentle to my feet. None suggested anything north of the knee ever, 1 physio suggested standing on edge of a step and strengthening the flexors but was too much without supporting mobilising movements and ended up with both feet equally bad. Wearing "softie" trainers for first time in my life was probably the cause of the spread. Moved to a different country, had more of the same advice from physio and podiatrists. Then met a massage guy (random find in a Vietnamese massage shop) who specials in feet and lower leg, gave me a bunch of mobilising and strengthening exercises for hips and down. And within 3 weeks, MASSIVELY IMPROVED situation. I can now for first time in about 3 years walk more than 800m without feet basically collapsing and needing to get a taxi the rest of the way. So what this guy covers in video is definitely valid IME. Locate the issue, massage and free up, stretch and mobilise then strengthen. For first week suggest doing half the reps of whatever is suggested, keep it properly light work so you don't tear or damage anything, and work gradually into it. By week 3, omg, the feeling of not being in mega pain with every footstep is amazing.

if you want to improve your hip-flexor stretch here raise your hand high up and tilt it to the left for your right leg (and to the right for your left leg). Imho makes the stretch more efficient. Been dealing with PF for 1.5years now and had to stop running entirely! These stretches definitely helped me to an extent but didn't fix entirely the problem

Hey! I just want to say thank you. This fixed my fasciitis. I was wondering why sometimes after doing yoga my fasciitis disappeared, and now I realise it’s because there we do hip stretching exercises. I’m now stretching before I go to bed, and I hold the full pigeon pose for a while, and when I wake up, I do the stretches in your video. My fasciitis is gone!!!

Been suffering from this for the last month (I play soccer 2-3 times per week). It’s been progressively getting worse despite constantly stretching and activating my foot and calf muscles so I’ve taken a week off. I stretch daily but there are some stretches in here that I haven’t tried, hoping this helps!

I was hoping this would tell me why I have this working the other way around - I injured my foot, and ever since have had major hip pain. FAI Fix improved things somewhat, but not 100%, and the hip gets worse as soon as the foot becomes sore.

YAAAAS! I've been battling plantar fasciitis about 9 months now. At first, I was trying to avoid being hard on my feet. After a few months of being careful with no improvement, I just "gave up" and returned to my regular martial arts training and stretching and stance work and, lo and behold, I forgot I had a PF! My feet are way happier when I am working my hips and stretching my big muscles around my pelvis and back and legs. Also note- martials arts is BAREFOOT. I think the recommendations to wear orthotics and extra cushioning and TLc are totally off. So, like, YEAH, I totally agree with you!
