How to make Lincoln Logs:
• How To Make Lincoln Logs
I made some alternative parts for Lincoln logs, and this is a quick look at them. All of the logs featured in this video are home-made. A how-to for making the actual Lincoln logs can be found at the link above. Thanks for watching :)

Good luck! Make more than you need, because kids (and adults) love these. A big pile makes it way better.

I don't know how I got here but thanks, I read your LL blog and never thought of making these for the kids. Great idea and new LLs are way to expensive. The roof truss piece is the one in a set of LLs that is made of plastic, it is great that you have come up with a wood piece. The person with personal attacks must not have kids, or a life so remember for every jerk there are a thousand people who watched your video and liked it.

I heard the lead to The Garden, That's my favorite Guns N' Roses number. Reminds me of being 9 or 10 playing with Legos, listening to the Illusion tapes. Outstanding.

I would really love to respond to you, but I'm afraid that you probably wouldn't understand a word that I say. Instead, I will just leave your comments for others to enjoy. I imagine that they will continue to serve as a warning against the unfortunate state of general ignorance. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Wanted to build my own logs to build a LL themed geocache , so i found your tutorial. i used 3/4 x 4 x 6 premium furring strips @ $2.07 a plank, Furring was pre rounded on the edges when i bought but it was slightly thinner then 3/4 , so i had to adjust the cut depth. Table sawed the grooves and sanded the edges round after. came out ok but i learned ways to do it better next time. produced 48+ 4 slot blocks with 2 planks + scraps to make 8 3 slot block

I figured out a template for the gable pieces. Thanks for the pointers on appropriate dimensions. How did you do the groves in the gable pieces?

I'm getting ready to make some American Logs, like Lincoln Logs, but more square. I have a jig made to cut the notches and cut lengths. I'll rip them first then cut the dado's on the table saw. That way I can use all my scraps for different lengths. I like the way you did it, but I'll try this way first and see what happens. I'll use a 3/16 router round over bit.

@@pocket83 I've watched your other Lincoln Log video, but don't see a description on how to give the trusses the 'log' appearance. What router bit? By the way, I love your how-to on making lincoln logs. I've already made a huge batch, but want to make the log-looking trusses.

@@rickdavis5414 Any news on the Router bit used? I suspect it's a 3/8 roundover plunge but I can't find one that comes to a suitable point (or very small flat) for under $70 - too much for me as it probably will have no other use.

Wow i'm a 14 year old guy from Scotland and have never seen these 'linking logs' (correct me if I'm wrong there!). In my childhood i loved lego and K-nex and these look great! Oh well looks like they missed my childhood :p p.s: are these american?

"Lincoln," presumably after Abraham Lincoln, who was the American president during the civil war (early 1860's). The inventor was the son of an American architect, so yeah, I guess these things are as American as apple pie and gun permits. If you want more info, my website tells about the history and how to make these. btw, I _loved_ legos as a kid, too.

Haha, funny how creative childhood toys have made me want to aspire to be an architect, whereas you have become a very skilled craftsman, mainly in carpentry. I thoroughly enjoy your videos, thanks!

What's with the stupid head scratching you keep recommending? All I remember with that business is some kid with dandruff who used to do it all the time showering his dead skin over everything. Even nail-biting is a step up and that's still not a good habit. Stupid how some people can't live without spreading pieces of their body everywhere.

And yet others spread their frustrated, free-associative bile all over the internet in text form-as though the rest of us are even remotely interested. Go be neurotic elsewhere. You're getting your stuff all over my comments.
