Where was you when i was a kid. Awesome job, but you need to vac up some of that dust around your power tools. Hope the kids get plenty of fun out of the logs.

You’re killin’ it! Awesome content. Just wondering if rounding off edge with trim router before making individual strips on tablesaw would work. Only half would be round but could be the log look from the outside of cabin. Am I confusing cutoff ends? 🤣 🤔💭

Thanks man! That’s a great idea. That would have saved me a lot of sanding. I made way too many of these things 😂 If I would’ve left the one side flat like you said, it’d be easier to hang pictures 😆

I have 4 grandson's. Can't wait to start this project. However, I'm building 2 blanket chest now, then I have to build 2 more cutting boards. So this project is 5th in line. Still, I'm excited

What an awesome project! I was just thinking about this the other day and remembering the hours of fun my Brother and I had playing (and fighting over!) our Lincoln Logs. Like you, we got frustrated with the individual slats for the roof and you came up with a great solution. I have a 5 year old nephew whom I think would love a set of these. The nice thing is if he needs some more, I can make them for him! :)

Dude, grow up! 🤣 Seriously, well done. I like how you attacked this. You made it look easier than it probably would be, for me. But doing the router cut first, then cutting the lengths, is brilliant.

If you resaw the gable pieces to 1/2" thick before you cut them to size you can keep your fingers away from the blade and your push stick higher.

I don't have a router yet, but I did finally get a dado blade. I assume that would work to cut the grooves before ripping the logs, though.

That is so cool. Now I'm feeling nostalgic for my old Lincoln Logs. I got two sets for Christmas 1975 and I played with them for hours on end. You can't buy the sets made from real wood anymore, so making my own set will be a lot of fun. Just looks like it might be a bit time consuming but I'm still gonna do it. Thanks for the video.

Awesome, man. I love these. Thanks for the share. I made my kids a few sets, but only went as far as notching with the router and slicing off logs with the table saw. All my experiments with various router bits to round the edges turned out too many variations and my inner perfectionist tripped out. 😅 I like how you did it.

These are so cool! I loved Lincoln Logs as a kid, but you’re definitely right about the roof slats! My little five year old granddaughter would love these. She would rather build something with me in my shop or create tiny accessories for her dolls than be on a screen (we rarely allow it when she’s at our house anyway). Right now, she’s looking forward to helping in the garden and flower beds over spring break, but I’m going to put these on my to do list for inside days. Great video. 🙂

Is there a place where I can bet on you losing a finger tip? Because I’ve never been so sure of something in my life. It’s a near certainty if you don’t start using more common sense.
@LogHewer

I've known sawyers who rode carriages right next to 50"+ blades for thirty years and never had a single scratch. I've also known guys who can't be around a table saw without losing a fingertip. They all have three or four nubs. At the end of the day, grown men do what they're comfortable doing. 🤷🏻‍♂️ And they take any consequences upon themselves. He even says as much before and during the video. Relax.
