Referee deserves a shout. She had a lot to contend with concentration wise in those couple of minutes. Between the placement of the white, the explanation of the rule to the player, issuing the warning, noticing the pink and handled it all very professionally in front of the TV cameras. It's Eurosport what do you expect, Ronnie's on their payroll
@tarastreasure Жыл бұрын
I think taking out his frustration by smashing the pink was the best he could do to ensure the best chance to win the decisive. He could've still lost it of course but it was the *best* chance. He knows by now what he needs to do in order to straighten his mental a bit. It's almost always in an unorthodox way but that works for him. As someone that shares a part of his mental issues I can say I understand him somewhat, but I can also see why others are displeased with most of his actions. I like him. :)
@bowlchamps37 Жыл бұрын
@@tarastreasure How can giving up a frame on purpose give him the best chance. In snooker, you do not control your opponent as much, going for a decider is always risky.
@tarastreasure Жыл бұрын
@@bowlchamps37 I know but I bet there's a good chance he thought of that. I'm also a fan of smashing things when frustrated or angry and if you don't get it out of your system it's worse. Of course this situation was delicate because he was in public AND he could lose the whole match but maybe he took a chance. We can't really know. Yes maybe he was just lucky to have won the decisive. But he lost many easy matches even when he didn't get angry so... Then let me just say I understand the need to get anger out of your system even at the cost of repercussions (like losing the match, here). I'm happy he won in the end. :)
@streetspirit956 Жыл бұрын
This isn't the case, He couldn't play the same shot again due to the risk of missing again and he didn't feel there was any other way of getting the white safe so he has tried to force a fluke by hitting it with pace but poor execution meant he hit the pink first and not the red. He explained this on his BBC wales interview.

Everyone commenting on here having a go at Ronnie citing frustration, lack of discipline, mental weakness, not caring etc. You are wrong. He explained what happened in his BBC Wales interview. He didn't think there was any way to get the white safe and that the only shot on was to try and force a fluke by smashing into the only red he could see with pace but poor execution and body movement on the shot meant he hit the pink first instead of the red. His only crime here is poor technique on the shot. Because he has tried to hit it hard, he has jumped up on the shot forcing the white off target.
