Appreciate the clarification. I was wondering about that, I didn’t know if it was because the signal was having trouble being picked up when the drone got too low… ground interference and all. Well I guess technically, it IS “ground interference”! 😂 Thanks for that. I had wondered about it.

No it's not. It's because drone signals like all WIFI signals use line of sight between the drone and the receiver. The curvature of the earth causes a lack of signal strength over longer distances. That's why as the drone gets low it loses connection. Like how a ship traveling towards you rises over the horizon.

So over longer distances the lower drone goes the more' loss of connection due to the curvature of the earth. Example. Imagine you're standing on a dock waving goodbye to a old fashioned tall ship with sails. As the ship travels off into the distance. The last thing you'll see is the top of the mast as it drops below the horizon. The same principle is at work here. That's why the drone has signal at height but loses connection the lower it gets.
