So much more to Bizet than Carmen. The L’Arlesienne Suites are great. He also wrote an amazing symphony just pst his seventeenth birthday

Magnificent orchestration. Handled with great interpretation and subtlety. The woodwinds at 11:28 were arranged and played like no other recording. So different that I like it. But it surely is different. Some key shifting going on.

Nobody writes for the combination of flute & harp within the orchestra quite like Bizet. The effect is magical. Compare the opening of the Menuet with Danse Boheme from La Jolie Fille de Perth for example.
