Neil the problems are not only the ANC's , the NP instigated a lot of the problems that the country is battling with now . They did certain things with the railways and other sectors of the economy to make sure that the government that came into power would be swamped . The gold mining in the Witwatersrand is a perfect example where they passed laws like the rehabilitation and mine ownership where a mining company does not have to rehabilitate the mine as long as the mine still has staff . Gareth cliff exposed this on burning platform on Monday .

Your observations regarding the triangle of control that China is putting together is significant. In my view, the UK (by country of birth) has fallen to a proxy communist regime which is effectively working for the largest global corporation that has ever existed, namely China. That is the only logical explanation for the inexplicable decision to hand the Chagos Islands over to Mauritius (who have never registered a claim on them). During the cold war the USSR ran a very successful campaign to indoctrinate sympathetic young students from western countries, Starmer was one such individual. There is every possibility that after the fall of the USSR these communist moles ideologically migrated to China, the only remaining communist power of any consequence. It is entirely possible that a connection exists between the CCP, the Starmer regime and even the Biden regime in the USA, and that they secretly do China's bidding, probably for significant financial reward. There is also a significant possibility that this is occurring in South Africa, especially amongst the RET faction of the ANC and MK. The great struggle against communism never ended, it just shifted focus and location. Simons Town may be a ready made naval port, but China could establish a naval capability in any of our other ports. This would be the last piece in China's triangle of control in the eastern hemisphere. With our harbours and ports in such disarray, I would closely watch to whom contracts and tenders are awarded to upgrade, improve and enlarge them.

I think Frans is wrong on renewable energy. The Chinese are adding renewables at an eye watering pace and the have capacity to manufacture the current tech as well as what is not invented yet. China also needs markets so when China says to SA you can install their equipment it will be an instruction. Given the tension with the USA and China over trade this is the most likely not to mention the advance in roof top in the coming decades

Dr Cronje seems to be avoiding any mention of the geopolitical elephant (and if the events at Kazan are anything to go on, soon to be a herd of elephants) in the room , i.e. BRICS. Iran is now a member of BRICS and the USA is not. South Africa recently participated in naval exercises with Russia and China; the US military have/would never even consider that. What choice does South Africa now have? In my opinion, very little.

Regarding losing agoa… I tend to disagree. It’s not just the auto industry… it’s thousands of engineering firms, plastic moulding, aluminum extrusion, farms who manufacture the leather for the seats… the electric seats made in Brits, the glass by PG, the insulation rubber, the springs that softly open the glove compartment to the wipers … from Rosslyn to Durbs East London to PE… AGOA is absolutely NOT 2% of our GDP… the loss of that final cost price of the vehicle, through the multiplier effect , will potentially cause the mass unemployment in most industries… lest we forget… an unemployed person doesn’t buy airtime with vodacom either…. The loss of agoa is a disaster… However, I do agree that if the US views SA as an enemy like Iran then it’s an absolute threat to all South Africans and devastation to our economy. Let’s hope the ANC care more for South Africans than they do for some violent terror inspired cave men mentality. Concerning AGOA and the car industry... Why would any economic strategist advocate for the elimination of an entire industry? It looks some people aren't aware that colonial South Africa was unfair barter trade as foreigner forced residence in a foreign country. This was not ended at independence and foreign corporations are not foreign in terms of economy but internal who send profits outside compared to locals who fund the economy. All foreign corporations should be limited and consent joint venture and technological transfer or they keep outside. The concept of win-win implies no business would remit profits outside economic borders.
