I lived in Russia / Moscow for 4 years 2016 - 2020. I have been back regularly as have a Russian girlfriend and friends. I was in Moscow most recently in November this year. I would encourage anybody with an opinion on Russia to go to Russia. As South Africans we don’t need visas. All your negative biases and western propaganda views will change. A summary on Moscow (but I have been all over Russia) - it is the safest, cleanest, trendiest, most service oriented, most beautiful (in summer), technologically advanced, cultural city in Europe. This doesn’t come from weakness but from strength. So Rob and fellow Russian haters, I strongly encourage you to go to Russia and build informed opinions, whether positive or negative ))

Rob you are wrong on Russia being weak and the US strong. The USA is no longer the military power it was in the 1990's. Russia is an extremely big country with a relatively small population but that distance has always worked in Russia's favour in the case of war. America has gone woke and so has their military. They do not even have hypersonic missiles or the air defences to shoot it down. In fact no one has any answer to a Hypersonic missile coming in at Mach 10. I always worry when I hear South African leaders/speakers being so West centric and seems to have blinders on.

I respect your views, Rob. However, China is not at war with other countries, nor does it maintain thousands of military bases around the world. The USA poses a greater threat to international peace and order. The rules-based order (often perceived as Western imperialism) is failing, and countries are no longer willing to be bullied into doing as the West pleases. Russia is militarily strong, not weak, and is effectively at war with the USA and NATO through Ukraine.

If one recalls, the stated aim was to take parts of Ukraine with predominantly ethnic Russian-speaking populations, not to take over the entire country. The plan was to use the captured territory as leverage in negotiations for the Minsk agreements (which you should also research). War is never easy. The USA and its coalition of Western allies lost to Afghanistan; they eventually gave up, and now the Taliban is back in charge. They only gained full control of Iraq after more than 15 years, with extensive assistance from their allies, during their so-called "War on Terror," where no weapons of mass destruction were ever found. The Middle East remains unstable, and the actions of the USA and its allies have only made the region more volatile. The USA would never allow a nation like Russia to form a South American treaty and arm Mexico with weapons and rockets right next to its borders. If such a situation arose, the USA would go to war with Mexico and Russia. The USA would demand that Mexico remain neutral or, better yet, align with them. Research the Monroe Doctrine to understand this aspect of U.S. foreign policy. The USA is an imperial democracy that believes it can act as it pleases. If another nation, like China or Russia, attempts to do something similar economically or militarily, they are suddenly labeled a threat. Since the Cold War ended, the USA has been the most active country in direct and indirect wars and coup d'états. It brands itself as the leader of the "free and civilised" world, yet it is undeniably a nation of war. Every U.S. president and government either starts a new war or inherits one from their predecessor. Placing arms near a nuclear-armed military power is stoking a dangerous fire, potentially leading to total destruction. When Russia attempted this in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, it was portrayed in Western media as a major provocation. However, when the USA does the same in Ukraine, it is justified. This double standard makes it difficult to dismiss Russia's justifications for its actions. As I said, the real threat to the world is the USA. After 1945, it took over the role of global dominance from the British and French empires. Its hundreds of military bases around the world are evidence of this. War is never justified. Diplomacy should always come first before military escalation. Wars only lead to death and destruction while profiting arms manufacturers. Saying that for Ukraine to enter Russia with 20 000 soldiers in the Kursk region tells you how weak Russia is and the USA have had 10 million migrants entering their country across an open border. What does that tell you about the USA then? It is not as simplistic as that and I would really call upon you to investigate a little more into this subject. Also look into the US education system and how many engineers they have graduating compared to Russia (1 to 3). Also look into the debt of the USA and other western countries and look at Russia's debt. I would also urge you to look at the shale oil & gas in the USA and whether it has reached peak levels or not. I truly wish the USA well but a little bit of realism would go a long way. We europeans in South Africa are inclined to be very uninformed and unrealistic when it comes to the West.

America is a warmonger. They meddled in Ukraine in 2004 with the Orange Revolution and then again in 2014 with the Maiden coup. This was a CIA operation. Russia signed the Minsk Accords to try and bring peace during a civil war in Ukraine which Germany & France were suppose to make sure happened. (Needless to say Merkel & Hollande admitted that they only signed the Minsk Accords to buy more time to build up the army in Ukraine to fight Russia. USA have spent millions of USD in Ukraine while their own infrastructure is falling to pieces. Keir Starmer would take money from the pensioners to send to Ukraine, where is his loyalty to his only population?. Who are these guys loyal to?? Blackrock?? The West is bankrupt and they need to steal to stay in power and on top. There is a reason they want Russia because of all of its resources. Don't get me started on the meddling in Russia or NATO expansion after promising they would not move 1 inch to the east. If the USA had a legitimate concern in the Cuban crisis don't you think Russia has a legitimate concern with NATO encroaching onto their borders?
