Dr Anthony Turton, a 12th generation South African polymath with experience inside SA’s Security Forces, Academia, Water and business, shares lessons from the July 2021 Looter’s War in KZN. The way he sees it, that may have been a mere curtain raiser for what is planned by Jacob Zuma and his MK party. Turton reckons the proposed ANC/DA/IFP government of national unity will have its hands full dealing with what’s coming - but says Zulu Royalty and the private sector, which played a decisive role in quelling the July 2021 unrest, could be a new government’s most powerful ally. He spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

We are for sure at a turning point in our country's history --shortly we will start seeing which direction we will go. I came to the conclusion that we must accept that we are from Africa--we will live parallel with each other following our own culture and language. As long as we accept that we are different and not trying to merge us into one kind of person, we can embrace the diversity of this lovely country

Exactly the same. They are Verwoeds dream. Just be aware they use racial scars to push their communist goals. They WANT the economy to fail so their confused and angry supporters can start the “revolution “. Rioting and chaos is exactly what the ANC did during the Peoples War in the 90s where 20 000 black South Africans died. That is what we will see mark my words. It’s a tinder box and many have been convinced apartheid is coming back. It’s dangerous

@user-wo7fe7bd9r. Of course you think you know better. I'm sure you see your thinking as what is best, but I can assure the majority of SAs do not. I know you probably fall into the camp of people saying SAs gave 60% of the vote to ANC & DA. But that is the incorrect way of looking at the result. The real result was that almost 80% of the population voted against the DA and its policies. The other parties are closer to ANC in political ideology. That's more than 2/3 - majority. MK is merely a vehicle to draw a line in the sand between competing ideologies within the ANC. Which, with this GNU, will guarantee a collapse of the ANC. The support they lose will coalesce into MK, EFF, and maybe a few to PA and ATM. After that, you will understand. And I've left a lot out.

Show me how the DA has contributed to the liberation of non-whites in this country? Their main objective is to get their hands on the cookie jar so they can steal our resources and manipulate the currency and say it is growing whilst the poor are getting poor and rich white people get richer. That's the whole objective of the DA.

As a South African my thoughts today: Assumption 1: We face the risk of a short period of intense Violence, Unrest, Looting, Murder, and consequently heightened Racism driven by the extremes (MKK/EFF) Assumption 2: Most normal (non-political) people are not in favour of this destabilizing Period and realize and this is destructive to the common man Assumption 3: The middle of society aspire to live our lives in peace and harmony and are keen to support each other as best we can within our means and see each of us grow and flourish My Hope: The Rule of law endures and will bring to book any person or Organization who usurps the National Good and who contravenes our Laws and Constitution without fear, prejudice or delay Aspiration: Government serves the People. Good Governance uplifts everyone. No one is left behind. From my heart: -We are good people, lets stay together. -We should not be distracted from our task by the problems of the World at Large - these are not priorities as we struggle to survive and thrive -We should acknowledge that we have urgent basic needs to be met amongst our people that need to be attended to as our Priority and get on with improving this - now! -The past does not predict the future -We need time

Its not that complex. This country is (should be) governed according to our constitution. The very same constitution that was accepted and respected in 1994 with the implementation of "democracy " Any individual or party trying to usurp the system should be held accountable. It is a blatant act of treason and should be punished accordingly. This country belongs to all who live in it and should be entitled to protection (amongst other basic rights). threats or nuances of violence by certain "terror" groups/ parties should not be tolerated.

yes your thoughts are "ideal" however you yourself clearly state and i quote----"This country is (should be) governed according to our constitution." and again "This country belongs to all who live in it and should be entitled to protection (amongst other basic rights). threats or nuances of violence by certain "terror" groups/ parties should not be tolerated."---- unfortunately the reality is nothing has happened regarding these transgressions and nothing will ever happen instead it will be swept under the carpet SO YES IT IS VERY VERY COMPLEX AND REAL.

law in South Africa is more like a guideline. It's only a law if it's enforced. When it comes to the ANC / GUPTA's / Zuma / Cadres etc. The "law" is never applied. If there are no consequences for their actions, why should they stop looting and bleeding the country dry?

Great interview and covers some very important points of interest. Our police and National defense force need an overhaul and regrouping to let these destabilizing entities know that they will be dealt with. A question I've been asking for a while is also brought up - why a political party is allowed to form an armed military wing i.e. MK. Surely that should not be allowed. Politicians requiring private military are always dictators, and this to me is what zuma/doo doo & malema/fraud shivambu are aiming for..

What ever is said and written about Jacob Zuma it should be obvious that he has been playing the Citizens , Politicians , The Judiciary and the Opposition Parties as well as the Parent Body of the A.,N.C like a tired catfish on the end of a line since he first appeared on the scene. Since his Jollification in Parliament and at the Zondo Commission he's been laughing to the bank with the Nkandla debacle . His various and ongoing court cases . He's playing of the Cadres placed at his discretion at various S.O.E.s He has proved on every occasion his ability to adroitly keep like a hunted fox one step ahead of the chasing pact. Is he a loner amongst Alibaba's thieves or has he a better schooled political or criminal mind. Will we ever know the real Zuma or will he be a casual of History.

Transparency is a doubled edged sword. It can get efforts sabotaged or it can drum up confidence as the proccess ensues. Political parties will gain or pay for their choice + competence in forthcoming elections. What will happen now with the court case at ICJ, with Pandor out of the loop + with the anc siding with the Da? Brics has a vested interest in the outcome + stability of its allies. They usually do their homework - did they see all of it coming + how will they react?

Zuma is more dangerous than Malema ! Zuma is a Godfather at the head of a mafia structure that serves his greed & ego. His cadres are all involved at various levels of crime from the trucking mafia to bribes, municipal contracts ,mining this guy gets his pound of flesh from everything. His footprint was all over the KZN riots that started off with protests for him then devolved into mayhem ,plunder , theft , looting & finally attacks on Indians. The anc tried to downplay the impact internationally & only when the destruction to PPL & businesses was calculated could the anc see what carnage was committed against innocent people. The best thing that CUDA happened to south Africa was the last election that's forced the anc into a coalition, now more checks & balances will be put in place & hopefully corrupt individuals within the anc will be exposed & prosecuted.

Thank you Alec as usual interesting. Just a point of order the militia groups formed during the riots were civil society. They were armed with anything from a 50cal to a bat and they were neighbours from suburbs that stood next to each other shitting themselves. what is often misunderstood when speaking to people who were not in the province is that is was the entire province, every town was under threat, every spaza shop and so on. The fact is, to maneuver and incite that many people in a matter of three days took a considerable amount of planning and organization. there have been significant reports regarding the 24 hours prior to the riots regarding strategic acquisitions by an unknown 3rd force. So here is some food for thought is MK using their appeals against the newly elected legislature, government and IEC as a smokescreen for a reason to go wild. It is flimsy but hallmark Zuma. Finally the looters were made up mostly of politically vulnerable disenfranchised people that had been whipped up over a considerable amount of time, this may well indicate that it was a black swan event.

@fredperry523 no the truth is the truth. Its not the content of his words It's something on a spiritual level. His analysis is more or less in a stream of probability that reflects the reality. I have seen him speak about his life and his time in defence force. It has the same general feeling. Thus is a man that understands the shadows and it has somehow effected the energy that radiates from him. I have nothing against him. I am mearly commenting on the emotional impact that he makes.

@majubaginindza7776 I don't think it's that. I don't mind a fascist mindset I also by the way do not get that from him. Its the burden of a long shadow that radiates from him.. This man is not a ideolouge or political activist in in the sense of any real or imagined ideological stream. I am commenting on the impact his life has had on his psychology and how it manifests via his energy.

My daughter lives in Harburg KZN. The looting was close to them. The taxis helped and then the German sugarcane farmers who are always on guard. No police. My son inlaw got luchimia and they didn't have money for private medical. It was barbaric what the doctors and nurses did to him, there was never blood for transfusions, waiting for hours. They weren't aloud to question the doctors then they were shouted at. Racism to the nth degree. They didn't put him in ICU, he had bruises and he died an awful death. I live in the UK, because my British born husband needed further treatment for hips. The NHS made a mess of his hips and ended up bedbound for 10 years and dying after covert jabs. We got benefits, but when he died, I got nothing. I packed up and was going to SA to my daughter. Stay in Harburg for 3 months and was horrified of how backward it was. I really started worrying and my daughter said that she couldn't take me to the hospital where her husband died. I had a Polish friend collecting the post and he let me know that I qualified for housing and tax benefits. I was so sad that it was better for me to go back to the UK than live in SA. My daughter is selling the house in Harburg and going back to Johannesburg and I know people don't like Johannesburg, but at least she could get a job there. We always lived in Johannesburg and the only reason my children moved to Harburg, was to live without a bond. I'm so sad when I think of my country and that I had to come back, but you need money for medical help In S, although I'm scared of the NHS it is a mess. English doctors are a culture shock for a South African, but if you get things free they are not worth much. So many Brits are going private and that is expensive on another scale. 73 and looking after myself and have to be thankful for the benefits. I am really torn, but can't expect my daughter to look after me.

A large portion of KZN should be separated from the R.S.A. and made into a Zulu monarchy. For a democracy to succeed, there must be a generally educated citizenry. When a country's citizenry can't think critically, a monarchy is more of a stable government for that country. The U.K. and other European monarchies are essentially democratic governments since those monarchies are more of a symbolic head of state. When monarchies function as symbolic heads of state, there could be a democratic government, because the monarchy functions as an overseer of that parliament. Why does a monarchy work? A monarchy is generally accepted by people who love ceremonies and traditions. However, some obligations rest on a monarchy. They must be a family that from childhood days are educated to serve the nation.
