Funny enough it actually gets proper service delivery unlike most parts of SA which some deem better . It looks clean, potholes are few infact it looked like the streets were wide and well maintained , working traffic lights, you still felt safe enough to interview people, I saw houses with low fences on your video which already tells me it's a bit safer - when last did you see those in an area that's not in an area without a boom gate. It may be regarded as a dead town but maybe what people are saying is weird about it is actually helping keep more bad people away. Go to some parts of joburg, good publicity attracts also the worst of things. It depends on what you see as a person. Great video guys. 👍

Ha ha. Yep my late father and his partner came from Holland in 1946 and started HADECO Flowers and Bulbs in Little Falls. Original name Harry de Leeuw Flowers and Bulbs. Loved the place. Roamed wild and free. To stop my buddy of six and myself to climb to those “ Little Falls” rocks my mom said there were killer snakes there. Only when 8 did we walk up there💪💪

I was a teenager in Joburg in the 90s. I remember that part of Joburg as the “east rand”. People had less money there was more concrete and it was more sketchy, but I had great church friends there and the people were great. There was a good skate park in Benoni.

Many years ago i worked at SA railways, Germiston depo... All my friends that worked with me lived in Boksburg, Brakpan, Springs,and Benoni, all done their trade with me,i met this wonderful Lady Afrikaans lady in the early 80s from Brakpan,got married,and still happily married with 3 beautiful children (also brakkies)but we actually miss the east rand now - Hopefully Brakpan will see us again 🤘🤘🤘

Very true. My mother lives in Wolmer. I live in CT but go to visit in Dec. The best is to join them in the front garden and watch whats happening and who walks by. My 2 brothers and their wives and children lives with my mother. Big family. My brother is hilarious as he grew up there. They know everything about everybody. All the neighborhood know my mother and call her Tannie Ralie. They take turns to come by and each one skinner (gossip) about the other. 😂

They are busy changing that. Nothing is being done to the illegal squatter camp in Anzac. Every day black smoke from burning tyres and plastic engulfs the town, people are ill with respiratory illnesses and many have actually died from related illnesses. Crime is also rising as this cancerous infection called Plastic City is growing. The main road between Brakpan and Benoni has been obliterated by the illegal miners who stay in Plastic City.

I spent most of my high school years in Brakpan. My family had a house on the one side of the railway which had a high school, then later we moved to the other side of the railway which had another high school. The best thing I remember was the English church across the road from our 1st house in Brakpan. There were the first Americans I ever met. The pianist was a lady from Texas. That time the accent was a bit hard to understand. The church was where I met the best girl I ever knew but lost when I ran away from home. 1994. Brakpan will always be in my heart. Maybe one day I will go back.

This reminds me of Lisen, Czechoslovakia where I was born (but never lived there). Nowadays it's just a suburb of Brno but it too has its own larger-than-life reputation and persona. If you look at the local ads for people either wanting to buy real estate, many of them say either "must be in Lisen" or (more likely) "anywhere but Lisen." Lisen sits on a hill overlooking the city of Brno and it's a good 30,000 years older than Brno itself. The people have a reputation for being wheelers-and-dealers in everything under the Sun, and are generally looked down on for their excessive negativity and temperament.

Gotta say the 6years I've lived in Brakpan were the best, people were friendly, streets weren't so durty, Church on Sundays were always the best, and when someone broke into our yard our 2 neighbors came out with guns and bats for us so it was great😂❤ Also, people in brakpan don't have a black belt in karate they have a fan belt in street fighting😂😂

I'm from Brenthurst, Brakpan, but recently started at a new job in CPT. I let slip that I'm from Brakpan and one of my new colleagues said to me that she knows one other person from Brakpan.
