So the song and the video are both about Iceland and her love for it, the place where she is from. The beats were supposed to represent volcanic activity. And Jóga was the name of her best friend at the time - she dedicated this song to her.

This song is about Björk´s best friend Joga. And I´m sure also about Iceland - her home country. You know..this kind of relationship that brings you emotionaly into a "state of emergency" and makes you feel alive "how beautiful to be". Björk is amazing and was always ahead of her time. Much of her music is not for the "usuall" consumer of music. Even I, who adores her, needs sometimes a few more tries to get a grip on some of her songs, but many of them are so worth to relisten to them. Some of those who was too complicated for my ears to listen too, realy grow into my heart and are favourites now. Also check out her earlier work as a teen with the band "The Sugarcubes" - very strange, but great punk rock. :D

The photoshoots are great of the beautiful Icelandic scenic landscape. Perhaps that is what shaped her to step outside the box in her music. She does that with perfection.

She actually acted in an incredibly impressive and touching movie called “dancer in the dark”.. she also sings in it and i can absolutely recommend it. Especially the song “i’ve seen it all” where she sings about accepting that she is getting blind in the movie. Tears me up everytime.

She is definitely an artistic genius. A couple of great live performances worth reacting to: Bjork - All Is Full Of Love (amazing live performance) Björk - Declare Independence (she got banned from China for singing this and then chanting Tibet! Tibet!)

I recommend a movie she starred in called "Dancer In The Dark." Not for review, but for your enjoyment. She wrote all the music in it. Also review "Army of Me" & "Human Behavior" by Bjork.

❤️ this reaction, I've always pronounced her name as ( Be-York) too; mostly because everyone who has ever said her name pronounced it like that too. I was surprised to learn it actually pronounced (Berk like Jerk) Anyway I hope you react to Bjork It's Oh So Quiet song too.
