"“Stonemilker” - the first track, and the one most steeped in traditional Björkdom - begins her documentation of a relationship’s deterioration, and is the most uncertain. Unlike the pre- and post-breakup songs that come after it (each is demarcated by a time-stamp based on its proximity to her separation from Matthew Barney), its melody is decorated with faint glimmers of hope. But because we know the rest of the story, that hope, after a few listens, makes “Stonemilker” Vulnicura’s most tragic track - and perhaps the saddest Björk has ever written." Moze Halperin

I remember listening to this song when I was in the midst of losing my friend, he was becoming more withdrawn from me. Perhaps it was my doing, or maybe he lost interest, but this made me feel like I was watching something come to an end.

Hear me out! The kinda stark, desolate flute/pingy noise is extra beautiful. On the record, the intro the 2nd verse has this amazing, subtle but effective Arca beat running through it. Sounds kind of like neon bubbles bouncing back and forth underwater? Its my fave thing about this AMAZING, career defining song. Im so glad i found a live version of that same Arca best sorta flavored through the song. The flutey synth thing sounds closest to that beat from the recording. Am i crazy? Tell me other people can hear that mesmerizing little bubble beat in the song.
@elekdbbend11 ай бұрын
no you're not crazy, that beat as well as the kind of flickering brushing beat that also starts at the beginning of the second verse add something to this song that truly make it special, the prominent cello section combined with the subtle electronic components are just unmistakable, its sooo beautiful and ingenious. I also see that flickering beat here as kind of a call back to Hyperballad and the similar looped brushed percussion sound (i'm not actually sure what it is) that runs throughout the song. Two of her best and most vulnerable songs.

This song shows our Björk maturing into adulthood, just like we should as well
@monowavy5 жыл бұрын
??? honestly kinda dumb comment. show her some emotional respect. edit: seriously, do you think she's only "maturing into adulthood" when she gets divorced after having kids with the man, building a legendary career, touring multiple times on different countries, producing her incredible music... I could go on for days. I know the comment is old but don't assume people are immature because they don't match your definition of "mature", in this case... being unexplicably heartbroken.

Opening the outer eyes and the inner eyes - again. What you want to be done, you should do to all others. Not only from human to human, but also from human to the one might, which always is, always was and always will be, surrounding us and going through us. All the human beings, who thinks to be stronger than nature (how could one cell of my body be stronger than the whole body?), cuts themeselves, put the truth seeing eyes into a deep sleep. Ignoring nature makes human beings stupid and emptys them, cuts the relations to reality - moving bodys with blinded and deaf spiritualities, hearts and souls we are. Aren´t we all zombies since the first tree felt to make money from it? To sell nature means to sell a piece of our own freedom and feelings and our children´s freedom and feelings. Nature is timeless. Nature is endless. Why should nature bear humanity´s self love, mendaciousness and loudmouthed missing knowledges? There are so much treasures, unsolved secrets around us. That means, humanity acts in ignorance. But there´s no embitterment, only the glowing lights of clear and light insights. I imagine, Björk feels as a part of nature and she gives this words to me - not only as a part of humanity, but as a part of nature. Björk expresses them so exactly in the combination of words, colours, shapes, feelings and the connection between this factors. I love nature. But I can not understand humanity, more and more and I am ashamed to be one. I already was as a child. Also it´s my free way to give birth to changing ways and to glowings. I am happy to have the golden ticket of life but I am sad about the circumstances. I feel, I think, I live.
