I've used this a few times. I don't get a tap but the throat pressure & arm trap definitely gives me an opportunity to easily create distance or hip escape out. Can't remember where I go from there though.
@newenglandguitarman33459 күн бұрын
The beauty is even if you don’t get the tap the pressure alone will likely force the top guy to compromise his position & facilitate an escape!

I'm probably not doing it correctly but I've had people tap due to pressure on the tricep rather than the choke... almost like a tricep slicer.
@MACBJJ2 жыл бұрын
Some chokes can be challenging when first applied. Try to find the proper hand, wrist and collar placement. Understanding the proper placement and what you want to achieve with that helps a lot. The fact that you are getting the tricep slicer instead of the neck shows you need to relax with the strength applied and try to focus more on positioning. The goal is to block the carotid artery on both sides of the neck, with that in mind, keep working on your proper placement and keep practicing. Go slow before rotating fast for it. It is a surprising and efficient choke when done properly.
@EvoXalex2 жыл бұрын
Been trying this for a week now. People just tap to a tricep slicer too. I'll try that positioning thing also, but they all pretty much see me coming a mile away now and just avoid any side controls with me now ! lol

If you switch to far side control would be proper defense??? The effectiveness would be in how quick is applied I would assume???

The name of this tech in English - roughly translates to, "I hope that my opp isn t smart enough to go north south." Haha
@zenco16113 жыл бұрын
No, you’d get tapped out if you went to north south

@jimo5593 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. That he could go North South easily. But I missed the park where he trapped the arm with a figure 4. I thought he went under the arm. I watched it again and then realized that the opponent can’t go north south. Or would be easily swept because the arm is trapped. Very nice technique.

Nice choke, but if the top person goes north south will it still be effective? Please help do a longer video regarding the "IF's". Thank you very much
@phoenixamaranth3 жыл бұрын
If you have a solid grip around their arm, then they will have trouble going to north south but they definitely have options to fight to avoid the choke. They can try to turn to north south, they can try to raise up and fight with the crossface arm, etc. but if they do these things, you at least have a chance to escape side control which to me is a big plus
@wonderaway99493 жыл бұрын
@@phoenixamaranth Thank you very much for the insight. Really helps
@aznravenflame3 жыл бұрын
Wait, when the choke is already set up, once going north south just tighten the choke as the lapel choke is across? Should he be trying to elevate and scrambling for mount since both hands are already engaged, so theres no more frame to prevent?
@guam583 жыл бұрын
The spiderweb grip on the arm prevents your opponent from going either way. Try troubleshooting this technique and playing around with situational. The spiderweb grip is key. There is also a bottom side keylock on shoulder submission. It is a very sneaky and powerful submission. You can also, use this in no gi, but it is keylock submission vs choke.

Cant they just stand up?
@MACBJJ2 жыл бұрын
Not very easy to do so. Remember the neck would be caring the attackers weight around it and the pressure is strong enough to get you unconscious quick, when applied properly. Give it a try, practice it many times slowly at first, it is an efficient choke.
