tapped to the pressure, but that is exactly what black gi was going for - and did a pretty good job of it. That's a rough spot to be in and frustrating as hell.

@@ryanmundy5856 thanks man! I’m the black hi and the kesa gatame (scarf hold) is definitely my go to move. Adopted it from high school wrestling and was stoked when I found out there was more to learn about it in bjj. I have currently won 24 tournament matches with the scarf hold 😇

Was that a scarf choke? Awesome man. I am doing my first tourmanent this year at white belt. I'm nervous about going in at Ultra. I am losing weight but wont be able to drop 50 by then. Instead of waiting, I am going to give it a go! Any tips?

I'm not the OP, but I'm also looking at my first tournament this fall and I'll be at Ultra Heavyweight. My gameplan is to have the best cardio in my weight class. And, if that doesn't help me win, then at least my heart's a bit healthier and I can maybe die a little less soon.

@@strongishguy683 What's your cardio regime looking like?

@@atylerpearce I have a fan bike in my home gym, so I'm getting on that most days I don't train BJJ for at least half an hour. I want to be able to do an all out 5 minute round at tournament pace, rest ten minutes, and do it again. It's taking a bit of time to work up to that 5 minutes straight. Good thing I started early.

@@strongishguy683 Keep at it, it does get easier. I was tapping from gassing out when I first started. I can go a full round now. Baby steps.

I'm a super heavy weight, so I'm not as big as ya'll lol but my cardio is definitely my biggest issue. I went from training 1-2 x a week for 5 months to training 3-4 days a week these last 3 months and that upped everything dramatically. I can finally do 3 x 5min rounds. Where I struggle now is doing specific training right before our live rounds. I still get my 3rd round in but the last 3 minutes I'm pretty much dead. Just keep at it and you'll get there.
