Unusually for a Bjork song, she didn’t actually write the lyrics on this one. She wanted the lyrics to be epic and poetic, so she asked her friend Sjon, who is a poet, to write the lyrics for her. As for the strings arrangement and production? All Bjork.

Bachelorette is one of her absolute standout’s. It‘s musically powerful, melancholic, catchy and „rich“ at the same time.

Stunning song. Elegant and big. I agree with you, the melody sounds like it’s been around for ever. The electronics and strings together remind me of shifting tectonic plates and the massive energy they can release.. always been a favorite of mine!

my favourite song by björk since two decades. the homogenic - vespertine - volta - aera was pure magic. she wrote the lyrics together with sjón, a close friend of her and an author. i reccomend his books, too
