About caresses : it's the electronic experimental duo Matmos doing that. They developed small microphones to put on their fingers and they react with those tiny noises when they touch human surfaces like hair or skin. I remember well when this album came out. I also think its her best. I have a personal experience about Pagan Poetry. In those days I was feeling very mind suicidal, heart broke and kept playing Pagan Poetry in a loop for hours. I was listening to it when the TV showed the collapse of the first Twin Tower. And I'll never forget how furious how I got because of that day. The world didn't exist to me, then. Just me and Björk. I blame that day for breaking the spell I was in. Don't get me wrong. I feel sorry for the victims and angry for the world that was created for us because of what happened. But that's were I was. I just wanted to share this with you all. Kind of quoting a Arab poet: The power of music? How can I feel the music when there's so much noise around?

As a melodic song, this isn't Bjork's best, but the performance, production and lyrics all elevate it way beyond most singer/songwriter material. Bjork is something special.

I thought it was an ok soundscape. Her voice sounded in the tonal range of a flute. My first reaction was they had added a flute. Björk is certainly interesting. The sound of her voice is more curious than stimulating.

It's the voice..Sometimes her musical experimentation is a wonder to behold, but if you can't get past the vocal ullalations, unfortunately the whole thing cancels itself out. Such a shame!

If you like this one then have a listen to Sylvian/Sakamoto‘s „World Citizen- I won’t be disappointed (short version)“ from 2003. Similar use of electronic toolbox. Yet more structure, more composition and therefore more touching. At least for my taste.
