This is a kind of "lyric video" but describing the instrumental instead of the lyrics. This time i add comments about interesting aspects of the music. Tell me in the comments if you like it.
Before watch the video let me explain something:
In the majority of music the percussion exist to support the melody and it often mark the difference between verse and chorus but in Arca productions the beats create its own story, you can listen the music only paying attention in this layer and it have variations and motifs.
Thats why it sound so organic but its the reason too why some people doesnt like her music, is too much going on at same time.

Amazing observations! This was a very interesting watch. I've also always thought that this song was about two sides "fighting", with the gentle side (Björk's voice, the harps, and the flutes) gradually becoming harder and harder to follow as the song progresses. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I've taken the ending as Björk accepting that you have to embrace grief / loss in order to heal and move on (echoing the sentiment of Vulnicura), hence the beats ultimately drowning out everything else. It's a very "cinematic" song if that makes sense, it's almost easier to imagine visually than to follow it sonically. She never fails to impress me!

Thanks for making this video! I love tearing songs into bits and pieces to "figure them out" as I put it, and Losss comes across as such a mess! It really isn't though and once you know all the parts it plays out so beautifully. Rabit, Björk, and Arca really knocked this song out of the park.

In my defense thats the only information i "copy and paste" from a website. It said it was in 3/4 or 6/8. I analysed the music in a program and it aligned with the 3/4 grid. It was in a very slow tempo.
@evanjanovsky817
@evanjanovsky817 5 жыл бұрын
@@augusto7681 , didn't mean to attack you, but the time signature is one of the basic things of music structure, and it's almost impossible to confuse triple meter with others. Listen to any waltz you can find (which is the best example of 3/4) and you'll see/hear that there is nothing similar in rhythmic structure of Losss. Btw pretty much any time signature will align the 3/4 grid if you choose suitable bpm. Again, I don't criticize, just want to clarify. You do a good job, this kind of videos help people to look at songs in a new way

It takes longer than usual to fully sink into it. It's interesting, though, cause I think her vocal melodies are simpler than ever. Look at “Body Memory” (my favorite from the album): the verses are the same melodic phrase looped, the chorus is the same. She's given different priorities, perhaps, to the musical elements in this album, so it can be a bit jarring. I listened to it for about three weeks straight once it came out and, while I might only really like about half of the songs, I think it's an incredible achievement. And structure-wise it's a three-act story far more complex and coherent than I've ever seen from Björk. What I mean is: if you give it more chances, it will not disappoint.
