Maybe the first tennis player in having an excellent physical condition, endurance, speed, acceleration and anticipation that made him reach balls considered as impossible back in the 70s and 80s.

I loved to watch Borg play as a kid. But gosh i forgot how frightenly fast he was!!! His acceleration and speed must be the best ever. As a Swedish he is something to be proud of 🇸🇪

The speed of his first step to the ball and his ability to change direction is unmatched in tennis history.

Truly incredible. His movement is ground breaking for all eras of tennis. No one talks about this, at least not as much as it should be talked about. I have a tennis racket in my hand because of this man. It's not very often you see a rally that lasts almost 90 hits. The endurance is beyond human. Big thanks to Ecc Tennis Productions for this amazing video. Cheers! M

Borg will always be the best for me. For him to be playing against Federer, Nadal and Djokovic is always going to be one of the great unknowns.

Yep. It's pretty clear to me the best of the wood era were Gonzales and Borg. They could do things/ made it look so damn easy. Laver was invincible for a minute, and he's one of the all time great competitors, not far behind. I didn't even exist on earth during their peaks, but I can just tell

Up to this day, nobody moved better on a tennis court. Both disciplined footwork and Olympian foot speed, both quick and fast, always balanced, super-fit, anticipating well... regardless of surface.

@@sincm91 Regardless of the surface was a part of the second sentence, but yes. Moved at least as good as them on those surfaces.

The combination of speed, endurance and athleticism was outstanding and even today looks almost unreal. On clay even the second best clay courter Vilas was no match against Borg in his prime, loosing the 1978 Roland Garros Final 1:6,1:6,3:6. Borg lost only 32 games in the entire 1978 RG tournament, to my knowledge still unsurpassed.

Man that really long rally with Lendl was insane. Borg was an alien!

On clay you get the feeling that after one set with Borg the mere mortals would be exhausted. I really feel that to describe Borg as the father of modern tennis is no exaggeration.

You have to remember that with a wooden racket it was essential to be fully in position - there is no help from racket technology to add power. Borg was very rarely caught out of position even when chasing down wide and out of reach balls and although I was only a kid when I saw him live, I have to this day never seen anyone move as fast as he could AND be in complete control of their balance. 11 Slams at the age of 25 is unlikely to be equalled ever and many of Borg's records still stand.

My all time favorite tennis player. IMO Bjorn Borg invented the modern game. There is a video on KZbin that compares his forehand side by side with Nadal, Federer and Lendl. Nadal and Federer's forehands are almost identical to Borgs. Lendls is a bit different.

Just to be clear Federer has a congenital back problem and Nadal has knee problems neither of them would have survived the tour with the medical science of the 80's.In Borg's era they didn't even have MRI's.

1:40 OK ive slowed it down, Ive re-watched it,--this is humanly impossible. Maybe one of the greatest things Ive ever seen on a court. To get a racket on the ball is extraordinary, but It landed in as well.
