Stopping income tax and then taxing indirectly, probably more than the income tax. As they have said only 3% are paying income tax. Either abolish or bring more people under the tax net and reduce the tax considerably.

The point is taxation on consumption and not on income. In an indirect tax you are not being taxed on income by on consumption. Consumption is your choice.

Everyone pays indirect taxes. Govt must abolish Income tax. People will spend money saved on taxes. Govt does not give any good service for Income tax it collects.

Hell Yeah!! A simpler tax system is what is the need of the hour. An utterly complex tax structure (like the one still going on in India) is the base ingredient of corruption and tax evasion. Currently, this complex tax system is unable to bring more and more into the tax net; frankly speaking it is custom built for enabling people and organisations to evade tax payment. The simpler the tax system is, the more difficult it gets to evade tax.

If not total elimination of income tax, certainly a huge change is needed. India can eliminate a lot of complex collection can disappear and very basic tax on less than 1% instead of 3% is feasible. The economic boost to India will be phenomenal!

remove all kind of taxes,only BTT (bank transanction tax) should be there.that between 1% or 2%.which is helpful for any one.we should note that common man also paying around 20% to 60% tax in the of 32 kinds of taxation.i.e income tax,VAT,muncipal property tax,service tax,property registration tax,toll tax,road tax etc.,

The eight percent is more than reasonable in USA NC. seven plus Percent is paid almost every where and we still have to pay other taxes.

Abolishing income tax would lift a huge rock off the back of the middle class , that pays the taxes most conscientiously , unlike the privileged class , that has a tendency to evade taxes , by foul means . Dear All, It is a gimmick of BJP before LS Elections. The income tax is almost 10% of the total revenue to the indian government. However, this is only from the 3% of the population. India's 60% population can and should pay income tax. But, only 3% from them pays the income tax. So, I have questions: 1. Does BJP want to please those 50% tax frauds and win their vote? Is it not same as pleasing muslim on the name of religion? 2. Why do not they say that they will try and increase the % of tax payers so that the income to the country is reduced? 3. Why do not they try and reduce the tax % so that more ppl are encouraged to pay? Or let's say push them to pay a less % tax? 4. In India 5% of the population, i.e. elites of India, possess the total of 85% of income. And still they are given subsidies for new project. Is it necessary? Or do they get the subsidies because they donate crores to the party? 5. When AAP wants to reduce the costs to the middle class and lower middle class families by giving them the subsidies or cut in power tariffs, the same BJP condemns them of being fanatic and populous. What is this then?

BTT will also tax you again, as the receiver to whom you will pay, will charge you the 2% tax, which he has to pay. Same as sales tax. I have calculated based on the current money supply and money velocity, which indicates that BTT is better than current tax structure. Everybody has to pay tax! Without tax, there is no democracy.

Look at the data incomes. Only 3% of the people have incomes above the taxable limit and pay taxes. People talk of expanding the tax base without understanding basic economics. When we talk of 35% of people are below poverty level (One meal a day), the people who eat two meals only form 70%. Where is the scope to collect more taxes? Moreover, the lower middle class is borrowing to pay taxes and hardly get a chance for tax planning.

The person who gave this idea was none other than Dr Subramanian Swamy himself. BJP saw great merit in it and put it into their election manifesto. But after elections it was forgotten. GST was not a BJP idea. It was Chidambaram's idea, but they implemented that! Absolutely mind boggling. They won't listen to their own party men, but will implement other parties advice first !!
