BJP Looking At Politics By Announcing 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas'? | Experts On Rajdeep's Show Debate
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday announced that June 25, the day the Emergency was imposed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, would henceforth be observed as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas' (Constitution murder day).
In a post on X, Amit Shah said the day would commemorate the massive contributions of all those who endured the "inhuman pains of the 1975 Emergency".
"On June 25, 1975, the then PM Indira Gandhi, in a brazen display of a dictatorial mindset, strangled the soul of our democracy by imposing the Emergency on the nation. Lakhs of people were thrown behind bars for no fault of their own, and the voice of the media was silenced. The Government of India has decided to observe the 25th of June every year as 'Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas'," Shah tweeted.

The emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi ji was declared and imposed through gazette notification, and it was lifted later, but the emergency imposed today is an undeclared emergency and every citizen of the country is sad and troubled by it. So it is for an indefinite period, which will never end.

If he call emergency as Constitution murde (as indira also admitted like modi on withdrawing agriculture bill). Correction of mistakes are not murder to the Constitution either by indira Or by modi. But leakeage of neet paper confirmed by CBI. Still modi is not going to conduct exams again. It would be unethical and even medical students cannot justify by getting seats. If modi either did not coduct exam even after leaked paper confirmed Or let not allow state to conduct medical entrance as before Education is state subject and centre omly to monitor it according to Constitution. So should corect his decision not to be anti medicals.

Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi on 25th June 1975 was the most virulent and murderous assault on democracy so far in India. When the supremacy of the entitled lot was questioned and the rule of law in a democratic republic was sought to be applied against the entitled by a few honest and courageous men, the fangs of the entitled were exposed through emergency who now pull out a red book and say Constitution is in danger and the entitlement of the entitled continues through bloodline amidst all the blood that was spilt during Emergency. Let India not forget, for it is a very heavy price to forget. Let India not be fooled by the entitled waving a red book of which they know nothing.

Nobody is interested in the past beyond a point. Observing a negative event every year is not to bring electoral dividends. People don't vote on past achievements or vote against because of past transgressions. BJP should have realised this after the no show in UP elections conducted immediately after the consecration of the Ayodhya temple. People vote on the basis of what is happening today. Emergency was indeed a black chapter in the history of Indian democracy, but the most of the voters born after emergency won't relate to it emotionally. Public memory is short. BJP should focus on the present.

The corona crisis was handled very well , digitalization has taken off, there has been huge infra building, and the economy is doing well inspite of the congress narrative. More reforms are needed, and one hopes that also happens... in Education, Health.... etc etc
