Guys, you have to understand that at this point they won't be seated together anymore to prevent further controversies (yes, the scandals are absurd and without any sense, but they still do affect their careers) - not only because it would be the decision of the event management team, but maybe even their own (especially Xiao Zhan's, who tries to keep his distance after the whole AO3 mess). They were seated together before while The Untamed was relevant for the award show nominations, but now, when they are both working on separate projects and The Untamed is two years gone already, there is almost no chance that they would be seated right next to each other like before. Someone wrote slash (bl fanfic) shipping them. Another fan got upset and it blew up all over XZ who knew nothing about it and had no way to control it. He did the right thing, the only thing he could legally do, which was say as little as possible. He got blasted for not responding (ie: apologizing), but that would have made it so much worse. Copyright law would come into it if he acknowledged it directly and that would involve the movie company and generally make things much, much worse. As it is, he's already back working as an actor. I don't know the specifics of China's copyright law, but I doubt it's that different from the US in this instance.

Y'all, it's ok to ship people. Shipping these two is no different than when you look at two friends and think that they would make a good couple. But, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed, especially when it comes to fanfic. It's ok to acknowledge chemistry between two people and imagine what it would be like if they were dating, but you need to realize that these are real people. Would you write a mature fanfic about your two friends just because you think they would make a great couple or you suspect they may be dating? No, you wouldn't, so why do that to these two? Especially when you consider that they live in a country where lgbtq+ is not accepted. I'm not bashing fanfic, I read a lot of fanfic myself, occasionally about real people, but I NEVER share what I'm reading online or try to bring unnecessary publicity to the fanfic. That is especially not okay if the fanfic is on the dirtier or more taboo side, because these are the things that can make the real life people uncomfortable, and as we saw with China, there are countries where those things are super controversial and can ruin someone's career. I really miss them so much. My heart is aching for them to be together. I don't know what happen between them. They seem so distance now. If they can't show care and love, for me that means they can't be together. There are so many reasons for them not be able to interact each other anymore. Also there are many rules for them to follow. They can't do whatever they want. They have to worry about their careers too. I am so heartbroken for them not to be together anymore.
