Finally summoned up the courage to make this preliminary review of these two beasts; the Condor Hudson Bay and the KaBar BK9. Making this taught me a lot about what really matters in a knife - at least to me.

Uncle Ethan designs a nice knife. The BK-9 was a real surprise to me. I expected it might be a bit 'clunky', but it feels great in the hand and in actual use is delightfully nimble. Yeah, I stripped the coating off mine as well.

All true, the 9 is special. Currently I am struggling to like the handle on the 16. A knife I really really want to like.

"Running your fingers over it lovingly." Only a knife lover would understand that statement. Great review. zane

I own two Becker BK 5....carried one for a couple years...never tried the BK 9, though i believe it to be a fine working knife. My first Condor Hudson Bay (purchased 12 years ago) did not have the stippling on the blade, but the later ones did...not sure why they changed...In my M1952 Rucksack video I show off a modified Condor HB knife that did have stippling on the blade...came out real nice it did...thanks Steve...woods

I went and looked at that HB! Wow! you should do a video about how you managed it - superb work!

I own a Hudson bay I've liked it it's based on the butcher knives of old from the time of British America. I own an old SP-10 raider Bowie from Ontario I bought 8 years ago and beat the crap out of it. I'm not into large sheath knives, I prefer the 4 inch size like the blind horse I bought from you. Great video Steve

Precisely the function of the originals was primarily butchery and other stuff too. Lewis and Clark once used their knives to cut steps into the steep banks of the Missouri. What we expect of knives and the uses we put them to has changed dramatically

About as far as one can get from that very effective little survival slip joint you used to use.

I love big knives but if I'm honest with myself there useless for cutting tasks.. Much better suited for wood processing or combat! Lol..But I still love them.

I think you speak for many people, right there. Though there are those who and are able to use them to good effect.
