The only one that made sense, was Gogo. The motive behind why we want to change stereotypes is subjective. there are stereotypes that can cause us our lives, and jobs. Then there are opinions that can be seen as stereotypes that can just be someone talking bad about you. "Black women will never be successful" or "Black men are dumb" those are opinions that many people will have, but from the drive you have of not caring and wanting to prove them wrong, is how you "correct" a an opinonated stereotype. But when black women are dying from childbirth or health complications at a higher rate than all races because they refuse to see us as equal, are issues that must corrected without fail. All issues must be addressed yes, but the nature of the issue is important. There are different ways to handle CERTAIN stereotypes. If someone wants to chat shit to me in the workplace bc I'm black, can be dealt with by working hard and doing what you need. But someone denying me HEALTHCARE bc I'm a black women or racially profiling me at a traffic stop, is a issue that has to be corrected with force. Some fights are not worth a battle. Use that energy in a different way.

Go-Go was very articulate in explaining his stance and ironically was agreeing to what Lucas was saying to a certain degree with he (Lucas) on the other hand couldn’t hear. You’re comment is very true and well explained! Kudos sis

What Lucas was talking about at the beginning of the debate when he acts a certain way at work compared with when he’s with friends and family is called co-switching. It’s something I as a black man have had to do for years in this country because sometimes people are so scared of the tall African man. I’m not saying it’s right and I’m not saying I like it but I use it as a survival mechanism cause I consciously know that the stereotype doesn’t work in my favour. It’s part of the struggle we’re fighting at the end of the day cause a white man or even an Asian or a Jewish man can be who they are without fear of being viewed a certain way but a black man has to dial down the blackness in order to not have his road blocked, it’s wrong man. I can also see very valid arguments in what Gogo is saying as well because your colleagues should be able to respect you for who you are and not what they want you to be. It’s a messed up situation but it horrifies me to think it was even worse back in the day so for Omar to say that no progress has been made is utter rubbish. In short things are better than before but we still have a long way to go when it comes to race and equality.

This idea of “playing into a stereotype” is an issue. In any group of people, you will have some that are quiet, some are aggressive, some funny, some are boring, some are good, some are bad. If everyone in a group decides let’s all sit down, fold our arms and hold our lips in order to not “play into a stereotype”, that doesn’t make sense and it’s not normal. Now is she aggressive? Maybe. But one should not conclude that because Amy is aggressive, and Sarah looks like Amy, then Sarah is also aggressive.

It's called appropriate adaptation and it's simply a case of adapting to a hostile environment with the appropriate behaviour. I'm sure most black people have done it and we know that unfortunately, we all represent Black because we aren't taken as individuals. The whole race is based on the actions of a few. We've learnt history once, but it wasn't ours. We have to make sure we continue to learn our history to map out the actions to move forward. We had traps laid in every aspect of our lives (history, medicine, healthcare, nutrition, education, etc) that we need to assess and correct for the betterment of Black people. Also, side note: Marc should move his workouts from training his body to training his mind. Critical thinking and learning our history is imperative.

If one wants to strive for greatness, it has got to have deeper reason than this. Wether that stereotype is then eradicated, that’s an element that comes with it, but that should not be depicted as the MAIN/GROUND motive towards better performance nor meaningful change. Ps: y’all need to set up some fan in that room 😭; the guys are suffering 🥵

In response to what Lucas said about changing how you speak or interact with certain people...its called code switching. It's something that Black people world wide have had to implement in order to adapt and survive in a very Racist world.

I’ll be real. The way the cast member speak to each other is quite aggressive. Aggressive doesn’t always have to be physical. If Esther was talking to me how she does on here I would think she was communicating aggressively. She is shouting, coming out of her seat, clapping/punching her hands. She may not pounce at me but someone, no matter what race, could easily say she was aggressive even though she was trying to communicate passion. It’s a lot! And that’s with most of the cast members, they swear at each other, come out of their seat, shout, try and silence each other. This is aggressive behaviour. If your man talked to you like this you would think it was aggressive because it is -that’s it.
