The Canon C100 Mark II DOES NOT have a 4K HDMI output. The C500, the C200 and the C300 Mark II all have 4K outputs. Of the three cameras I mentioned, I believe that the C500 only outputs 4K via SDI out.

Had this camera for about 2 years now. Used in in every situation there is, never lets me down. Better cameras out there but this can give some serious footage if you take the time to learn the camera. ONLY gripe is no 60p but I don’t do all that much slo mo anyways.The WDR profile looks awesome in almost any situation.

Nice one mate. Just bought one for documentary work. It was a steal in a great used package. Wanted a MK 2 but was a bit out of my range when factoring in all the other gear, including a Ninja 2.

Wonderful review. I especially like the fact that its the latest review (2018) I have been thinking of moving from DSLR to the Canon c100. The goal would be to get the Markii but hey, might have to go with the 1. But thank you. Great job.

This is where I am now. Going from the Canon m50 and looking to get the c100. I have good glass (sigma 18-35 1.8 and 17-55 2.8) I am convinced. The avchd only kinda worried me but after some research Im gonna get this

very good video. using a c100 too for interview and corporate stuff. it just works. One downside is the lack of 50p. I would use it more often for other projects, if it had 50p. but overall, its amazing.
@thebrandonkm6 жыл бұрын
That is true, it has 50i but I haven't looked at what that difference in quality would be
@mrmixalotcreative58476 жыл бұрын
You can convert the 50i to 50p in FCFX or Premier, but it's not perfect. Fine for short shots though.

Own a C100 MKII and an Atomos Ninja Blade - and as the C100 and C100 MKII has clean 4.2.2 (8-bit) out, it's a killer combo. You get both DNxHD and ProRes in a high bitrate, a lot better for editing. And the Atomos is triggered by the camera, so i starts and stops at the same time as the C100 records internally. The internal recording is great for KZbin and other stuff, but for editing, the Atmos delivers top notch results.
@vpr55626 жыл бұрын
May we see some video with c100ii and the atomos please? I am wondering also where i can see a comparison footage with and without the external recorder?
@MauriceCovingtonvideographer6 жыл бұрын
Correct. Very good points. This is just one of a few reasons why you can purchase a C100 over a C100 Mark II. Even with the C100 Mark II shooters will want to use an external capture device.
@AUTOMOTOMEDIA6 жыл бұрын

Great video, I like to see stuff like this on KZbin as you can pick up some really great gear thats a few years old now at brilliant prices. Its nice hearing how it compares to modern tech. I'm sure you're aware of this but all your handheld footage could do with some stabilisation one way or another as the micro jitters are a bit off putting. As I say, very handy vid though.
@melvinch6 жыл бұрын
Great video. I suggest getting a used Atomos Ninja Blade and you will be able capture to a high quality ProRes codec for editing.
@MexicanMovie6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely is necessary to use external recorder if you want to do heavy post processing with great results, although I capture DNxHD for use in DaVinci Resolve on a Windows pc.
@thebrandonkm6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And that's very true. I have not had the chance to get my hands on one yet but when I do I might make a vid about that combo

Hi , thanks for the video, I upgraded to C100 Mk II from T4i and loving it but I don't think you get clean HDMI out 4k signal on the Mk II.
@MexicanMovie6 жыл бұрын
That is because the C100 Mark II only does 1080p..... it records onto a 4k sensor but is only 1080p output. But it is extremely sharp 1080p and you can upsize to 4k in DaVinci Resolve on export with marvelous results.
@thebrandonkm6 жыл бұрын
Ah sorry, you're right!
@MauriceCovingtonvideographer6 жыл бұрын
Actually, the C100 has a 4K sensor in it that is downsized too.

If you learn color correction and grading then you wont need to worry about LUTs. Don't buy a pro camera if you can't color correct. Doesn't matter the camera if you can't do color, you'll get the same picture.
@Kaboom1212Gaming5 жыл бұрын
I have been using a c300 MK.II and I use Canon's official LUTs as Utility luts and then grade from there. So combining creative process and utility luts in entirely doable even for just prosumers.

So I'm mostly wanting a high end camera for video primarily but I would also like to do decent low light photography work with it, would the C100 perform decently in this regard or would it be worth it to just get a 5D MkIII instead even considering all the downsides when it comes to video features?
@MauriceCovingtonvideographer6 жыл бұрын
The C100 is a video camera and not a stills camera. The low light on the C100 is very good. When compared to the low light of the Sony cameras, depending on what you're shooting, the C100 will not struggle, it just might not be as good. I honestly have not run into any scenarios with the C100 where I've looked at my footage thinking that it didn't perform in low light. When I'm shooting interviews, weddings, commercials, symposiums, music videos, etc. these are all controlled environments where lighting shouldn't be an issue. This is just my option.

Great review! I'm selling my A7s to buy a C100 mark II, because I mostly shoot events and this camera seems perfect for that. You mentioned in the video, that if you choose the right export settings, it will look almost as sharp as the C300. Could you tell me more about those settings please ?
@DETROIT123456789336 жыл бұрын
Also on C100 mark ii. Set shutter at. "180 shutter angle". looks great.
@thebrandonkm6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Just exporting with a high bitrate is important, especially because KZbin compresses the image so much. Also, sometimes I've found that exporting a 1080p video as 4k helps KZbin compression to not look as bad. It does take up more space and the difference isn't very dramatic but it can help some.
@charlesBenincasa6 жыл бұрын
It’s sharper then the C300mk1
@charlesBenincasa6 жыл бұрын
Reasoning being Avchd Compress for Detail But is throws out redundant information... The c300 uses mpeg2 at 8bit422 and uses compression for each individual frame so the detail maybe a little softer
