I surprised myself when I got side-sliding right away. After passing level 1 myself, I realize a lot of movements in this video are a bit exaggerated. On my first day, I was mainly using my hands to turn. On my third day, I'm sure I was using a combination of hands, arms, and legs to turn. I really don't know what I was doing to do the movements I was doing. If I wanted to get some place, it just happened.

It took FOREVERRR for me to nail down side sliding; you name it, I did it....drop[ed elbow and opposite knee; "Well, discovered another way to spin....damn it!!!" When it clicked, it clicked, but if there was a way for me to botch it up, I did it. Agreed, they are all exaggerate to me....must be for instructional purposes. Wish I had found it when I was side sliding; my coach had me learning it right after turns..

I was pretty much using both arms and legs to turn. We even faced each other and orbited around the tunnel and I didn't even have to think about it. I also have videos of my progression on my channel. I even got "super positioning" right away too. Repeating these "exaggerated" moves is probably why I struggled at first. It only takes a little bit.

As for going up and down, it was basically tense up to go up and relax to go down. I flew up as high as that silver ring between the glass and upper wall. That's basically as high I was able to go just by tensing up. Then was able to start going a little higher by spreading out. I wasn't gonna get too crazy with height just yet. But I did fly as high as they take you when they do the "high flight" with you.

Heh, I did go last week and had a bit of a brain fart on going up and down. I did do a couple of back flying sessions on the net just to get a taste of what to expect. So, gonna work on that next time and goof off on belly. The instructors will still have you play games with them even though you don't pay extra for the coaching. They do tend to bend the rules a little. Apparently, super positioning is a Level 2 skill under "Formation." I'm gonna ask about getting signed off on that. I think they do want me to do 3 moves at once. So far, I can do 2 moves at once.

Update! Got signed off on Level 2 Formation. I went in on the first flight of the day and did a side slide while rotating 180° and going up. Not sure if the instructor was expecting me to do that, but he was rather impressed. Worked on back flying on the net some more. Then closed off with another belly flight where my instructor got to fly with me to practice more 2-way formation and 2-way verticals. Gonna try to grind out back flying on my next visit. During my opening and closing belly flights, I'm gonna work on speed. See if I can push my limits a bit 'til my instructor gives me that "tone it down" sign.
