Bláthnaid Raleigh was just 21 when her life changed forever after a night out ended in a terrifying aggravated rape carried out by a young rugby player who she knew from her local town.
When Johnathan ‘Johnny’ Moran was found guilty of the attack she waived her anonymity so that he could be named and that she could speak out for other women.
Blathnaid talks to Nicola about a night of darkness that has seen her become a powerful advocate to help break silence and shame around sexual assaults.
This episode contains graphic descriptions of rape and sexual assault. Anyone affected by these issues can contact the Rape Crises Centre on 1800778888.

An incredible interview. You are an inspiration to everyone, male and female, who have experienced trauma and injustice. Your parents, family and friends should be so proud of you and know how lucky they are to have you in their lives.

This was an amazing interview. Blathnaid you are the strongest , most articulate woman and an amazing role model for our young people. You have turned an horrific, life shattering experience into something you are using to help people. I am in total awe.

The problem I have with all this is that I now feel I know Blathnaid so well that if she walked by me on the street I'd recognise her. I've only seen two kind of side like kind of photos of the bastard who did that to her. His face and details should be up there on a website or something clear as day as nobody is in any doubt as to who he is and what he looks like.

To call this girl brave isn't enough and seems so shallow but what a scarey interview and at the start she says she is down towards social work to give something back, tells you everything you need know ❤❤

@34 mins. He might have said it was disgusting and he wasn't in to all that but I'd like to think he'll be the expert in it all by the time he finishes his sentence.
