@@Destrodooomocculta ... And do it with notoriously shitty gear. I mean... Think about it. Dean ML guitars, then Washburn for a while in the 90's, and Randall Amps. Dean and Randall are rated highly nowadays. But back in the 90's? They were shit gear. The fact he could make the tone he did with that rig is a testament to his talent. Dimebag was 4th demension next level.

@@bradbiggs4283 one thing I was told as a fledgling guitarist. If you can't make shitty gear sound great you'll never sound good on great gear. Money doesn't replace talent or hard work ever.
@bradbiggs4283
@bradbiggs4283 5 жыл бұрын
@@Destrodooomocculta I was preached the same thing... And it's true. But, still... When one reaches the professional touring level, you would expect a guy to have the professional gear. Again... Nowadays, those companies are considered some of the best. Randall is consistantly rated up there as amps that can perform long, running hot in heavy gain. I have no doubt that Dimebag's partnership helped build that company. But, on that note... What was your 1st gear that you were forced to try and make sound good? Mine was a "musicyo.com" Kramer strat-esque guitar that weighed about 10lbs. That guitar could easily be used as a weapon... And it actually played really well. Great action, traditional frets on a solid maple neck, pickups fed-back pretty bad at high gain. But, all single coils do, I just had yet to learn how to work 'em... And, the Almighty... The 120 watt CRATE amp thru 2, 12" speakers. Say that again... 120 watts. Thru 2-12" speakers! ... And I just couldn't figure out why I had so much feedback... lolololol!!!! Good times!

@The MilkshakeJunkie When Facelift came out when i was highschool they definately were considered metal but after Nirvana blew up they started getting lumped into the 'grunge" scene like other Seattle metal band Soundgarden while softening their sound. There was also a softening of bands like Metallica and Megadeth in the 90s. Pantera in contrast cranked it up each album not softening for mainstream acceptance. This is in no way meant to disrespect AOC who i have been a fan of since Facelift. Each one of their albums and EPs is a classic.

I love this reaction lol. I never came out of my house shirtless with a beer, but you are on the right track. Most Metal fans use the music as a way of expressing emotion without actually hurting others. We use the aggression and lyrics and headbanging as a way of releasing emotion. A way of channeling our anger internally, as a way of avoiding true physical projection.

@@HatsuneM1ku01 Whaaat? 😆 Dude Pantera's been broke up since 2002,Vinnie & Dime are both dead. So how do you say they're mainstream music? Lol Uh are there any Pantera songs that's been played on MTV that we see today? No! And that type of music was the original mainstream & should've stayed that way instead of Miley Cirus,Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga.

Pantera is way mainstream lmao. Everyone listens to stuff like pantera, Metallica, disturbed, Korn, etc. they only play like half their albums on 98 kupd every other day lol. Do me a favor. Go listen to stuff like death, vektor, havok, suicidal tendencies, exmortus, bolt thrower ,etc then try to tell me pantera isn’t mainstream lol

Pantera - Domination - Live in Moscow 1991 . One of the greatest live guitar solo's ever! Plus the largest crowd I've ever seen. Something like a million including the military doing crowd control.

"If you don't want your kids to grow up so fast, do not let them listen to this." Might be for some but for me, I had my first exposure to hard rock and heavy metal from family members when I was in my elementary years. But I grew up 'normal' anyway. I became a full metalhead during high school w/o even realising it. And I was still doing 'normal' stuff like going to school and respecting my parents. I guess it was an outlet for my rage that I didn't really show so metal was like a therapy for me. Nice reaction btw.

Vinnie and Dimebag (Drums and Guitar) were brothers from Texas, they're both dead now. May they rest in peace. But long story short, Phil is from New Orleans, he came back there with Rex, the bassist, after the death of Dimebag, they have multiple bands, but Vinnie never wanted to talk to Phil again after the death of his brother. Now that Vinnie is out of this world too, Phil is back in shape, and he's touring again with this old Pantera material since this year.

Phil moved back to LA before Pantera split or Dime died. Cowboys came out in 1990. Phil formed Down in 1991. Vulgar came out in 1992. He formed Superjoint in 1993. Far Beyond Driven came out in 94, Great Southern Trendkill in 96 (Phil recorded vocals in LA), Official Live in 97, Reinventing the Steel in 00. Rex joined Down in 2001 and Pantera split in 2003. Dime was murdered in December 2004.

It is so nice to see someone be open to all genres of music. I was lucky enough to see this band probably a 95 or 96 And it was one of the craziest shows but one of the funnest I’d ever been to. Honestly the only drugs that I really remember was a lot of weed smoking LOL I think I was the highest I’d ever been at a concert because we smoked so many joints. It’s sad that two of the bandmembers are no longer alive and this band is no longer together. But I am so happy that I got to see them live
