What's the name of the camera?

He is using a Leica M (film). There are various models to choose from. Not cheap. But fun. He mentioned two cameras.. One was a film M. A M6 is a good buy, an M7 a bit more but has some bells and whistles. The MP is great, but expensive (will last a lifetime). The MM is the digital camera he's referencing. At the time of the video it was the M9 Monochrom. Now you can get an M246 Monochrom. Great camera.. But the lenses are where it's at (35/50 Summicron lenses are good and reasonably priced for Leica). Hope this helps!

Shoots film and doesn't develop it himself..... that is the only reason to still use it, to have control over the processing and to create the final thing yourself. If you want grain it can be added in post, it's easy to replicate black and white film.
@Alex0Best010 жыл бұрын
I think his point there was just about supporting film buy buying it and making use of labs, given that he talks about scratching it up etc. I'm pretty sure he must do his own developing sometimes.

oBLACKIECHANoo It's not because you shoot film that you have too develop it yourself! Is that a rule? The thing is, I don't shoot enough rolls on a daily basis to make it worth processing myself. I would waste too much chemicals for few rolls only. Plus you don't want to process only couple rolls at once, it's never good for the quality... but I don't want either to let sit some undevelop rolls until the good time has come to do a big batch. We all have our ways of working... and I think supporting labs is an important thing to do also. And I think in the very end, what matters to me is the result of my pictures and what I want to share with the world with them.

Frenchfred It's not a rule but I mean one of the biggest reasons to do it is to have control over the process, and just for the experience. If you only want grain in the picture you could shoot digital, replicate the look and get work done much faster. I just think film is a waste of time in that situation, especially for a paid job.
