Nice tutorial. In Affinity Photo, there is often more than one approach to accomplish the same general goal (conversion to monochrome in this case), and I'm always interested in the subtle differences between these various approaches.

And if nothing else works you can even write algorithm to get what you need. Not the most versatile thing in the world (for you can't write algorithm for composition, only for adjustment filter) but it's more practical for real work.

The vast improvements in v3 are WELL worth the minuscule, one-time cost. I bought all 3 v1 apps, and HAPPILY paid for v2. They NEVER said free lifetime upgrades. What they said was free updates to the next major version, i.e., v2. This is infinitely better than Adobe's RENTAL model, where the software literally stops working when you stop paying. Support Affinity! It's the only viable alternative (from this professional's perspective) to Adobe RENTAL.

Thank you James. That is very interesting. I'm a newby to Affinity Photo and I do mostly Astrophotography and Solar Photography and Solar video. Can Affinity Photo help in making animations from many, 500 or more, images of the Sun that were created from stacked video frames? I know Photoshop can do it because I've watched the KZbin tutorials. But, I'd really like to know if Affinity Photo can do the same? I am a licensed owner of Affinity Photo and I'm just getting started with it. Also, all of my Solar stuff is done on a monochrome camera and I need to learn how to colorize them so they look like what we think the Sun looks like. Anyway, thank you, once again, for this video. Affinity Photo has none of the animation tools that exists on earth. I Suggest to use DaVinci Resolve (there's a free version that can do everything you want and much more). There you can point to your images folder and create a vid by a mouseclick. For me, I think it's ok that Affintiy does not overload a Photo Editor with stuff like animation. Keeps it straight

Richard, your astrophotography sounds like cool stuff! I don't think Affinity Photo has an options for animation. I know Photoshop allowed you export animated GIFs a long time ago, is that what you're looking for? Regardless, look into DaVince Resolve video software. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to accomplish any type of animations needed, and ... it's free. (Probably the best free software, ever.) There is a paid version that includes a few really advanced features, but you probably won't need that. FWIW, the paid version is relatively cheap, and is one time. All the best.
